the back end looks good ...just hope they don't employ the duck-bill front end as was on that show car

i like that the vanquish name is returned, but IMO this is just a (still very nice) DB9 with a major face-lift
the vanquish was the origin of the modern aston martin design, all models since (even the one-77) have incorporated it's influence ....to me, it would have been far more suited to save this name for the next change in aston body design/architecture
i do like the new should line with it's more pronounced double curve, and taper back to the rear fender

I agree, although I think the DB7 could claim to be the forerunner of all current Astons. It marked the end of the upright DB5/6 style and the start of an aero influence.

The Virage name was also revived for basically another DB9 variant. Hands down the best looking production cars made today, but I think they're milking it a bit at this point.

Have to do agree with the two last posts. When the DB9 was new it was a competitor to the 575. Since then Ferrari has junked the 575, made the 599 and junked it, and then made the F12.

While Aston Martin is still polishing the DB9.

    Still a beautiful car tough.

Don't like it. Nothing remotely exciting about it. Very disappointing.

Funny I cannot distinguish the difference between Aston Models anymore. Is it just me or do they really look too similar ?

A 1989 Vantage is THE car for me

Vanquish for me. The old, proper Vanquish. Not this tub with an Aston badge. I love the AMV8 as well. Everything else is just a derivative, some better than others.

You are right, they are all far too similar now. Nothing exciting or revolutionary from AM in a while.

agreed, probably ian callums DB7 could be the first, but his Vanquish to me is what the current DB9/VantageAMV8 cars are derived from ...they are milking it :D

of the current range, i'd have to say the Virage actually appeals to me best, and maybe the DBS after that ....Vantage V12 seems like a cool car, but i can't stand the hood

this ^^ Vanquish looks fine, but the air dam/skirts look horid!

Seen the V8 Vantage S? Looks identical to the V12 only without the hood vents.

That would help, IMHO. The hood vents look a little IROC, for those old enough to remember. ;)

The lower parts in grey look terrible. Would like to see the whole car in one colour to understand the surface treatments and panel entities and overall shape better. I am quite sure that I still won't like the car. Too similar to existing models, too many bulbous curves and the headlight housings are too huge. And the front end is simply too long. Tail end is interesting, but could be finished better in my opinion. Very disappointed.

Not so. The db7 was the last of the old guard astons, pig iron chassis from an Xjs with a ford give-away v12 stuffed in it. The vanquish was the showcase and a major milestone for Aston for their new structural architecture. It also heralded the end of the road for the Newport pagnell plant while the bloxom site was re-tooled for later models. All the engineering work on the vanquish was done by a small team on a tiny budget and no time to do it in. The DB7 merely paved the way for ford to slacken their purse strings. The Vanquish is the car that saved the company.

I hate it. I'm insulted that they are whoring out the iconic name on another DB9.

    That doesn't even look good.

Maybe they think they're Porsche and they have developed an iconic design they can milk for the next 100 years. I'm not saying it's working, but that may be the thought process.
