I tend to agree as I believe Lamborghini used what was on hand at the time for the most part, never thinking that people would question things some 30+ years latter.
I just figured I would float the question out there in case I was missing something.
All said and done your car is spectacular Michael, congratulations on a great restoration. Sincerely Vic

Side Draft motors are by far the most beautiful in a CT, gorgeous.

I think it would be VERY difficult to set up a side draft car with a hand held flowmeter, as there is not enough space for one on the carbs towards the front of the engine bay. Yes, I know this is the "back" of the engine, as the Countach engine faces backwards; so (PLEASE) can we all refrain from a semantic argument about which end is the front or back...

The 12 tube manometer is ideal, as it allows you to sync all 12 throats simultaneously. This is also the factory recommended method.

Yes. We sourced the original materials, and made new carpets patterned after the originals.

Having as many Countachs as I do at the moment, and an "offer I can't refuse" on the table; this one will be going to a very loving new home. It will be tough to let go after all that has gone into this one...

We only replaced the carpets and window felt. The dash was shrinkage free, and the original leather upholstery was in great shape. While all of the upholstery was out of the car, we just gave it a very thorough cleaning. It's not just the photos... Everyone who saw the car before we started and has seen the result swears we re upholstered the car.

Michael what kind of hours (ballpark) went in to all this work you've shown here?

Excellent question. While I didn't track the exact number of hours I spent, This project did consume at least a few hundred hours of my "spare time" over the past year. I would have to look at how much time the body shop billed me for, but I think I paid for approximately 500 hours of their time; if my memory serves me correctly. I think it would be reasonable to budget for 800-1,000 hours to completely refurbish a Countach.

    Michael,

Fantastic to see someone put the $ into 12562, especially for me as I owned this car for a 2-year period in the 90s and did a couple thousand miles in her. As Countachs get older they need this kind of TLC.

    A couple questions:

    - Any rationale for having multiples of the same variant?

    - Do the cars belong to the same gentleman who formerly owned the GTO Evo?

Happy New Year to all for 2015!

Did you source the original materials from Italy?

I was able to source the exact carpet stateside. I re-used the original heel pad that was as new. Now I have discovered that you can now buy complete ready made carpet sets from the original supplier (through Emilio). I chose to go the latter route for the restoration that I am doing on 12557, as there is no cost savings to do it yourself.

    Hi Michael, Happy New Year!

Where did you get the felt carpet material that is in the rear panel of the trunk?
