I think Mr. Bobnar had to sets of number plates, the traditional “SO 303” and the garage plates “SO 303 U” that he probably had to use with his 25th anniversary as it was not homologated in its carbureted form in Switzerland.

And if I see correctly, it is an injected version whereas Mr. Bobnar’s was carbureted.

He had also SO-203 and SO-203-U
U means dealer plates, his 25th (KLA12748) was never officially registred, could not because after October 1986 all cars had to have catalysts.
As Ed stated correctly, his Special 25th is carburetted, he imported two 25th from Cali - a White (KLA12587) and a black one (LLA12038), the black one was officially homologated in switzerland, the white one never.
The white one I've driven personally many years ago, was running like a VW Golf compared with GLA12997.

Can't remember exactly but I'd say sometime before the summer of 1990.

As far as I know, there is only one non-metallic Viola with red interior 25th, please post pics of your car.

    And welcome!

Joe I follow you on insta, my car as not been seen in the wild for 27 years. It was delivered to me on Friday last week and has 4050 miles on the clock and completely original. I’m the 3rd owner.

Car has everything still including tool roll books brochure. I even have letters between Portman, LAMBORGHINI and the first owner Nigel Albon father of current rookie f1 driver Alex.

I have recently been in dialouge with del Hopkins who was a manager at Portman Lamborghini, conversation below

“Unfortunately I am unable to help that much other than its Chassis Number KLA12029 and it was one of the last 25ths.My records show their was only 9 after that one, the reg date I have is 19/04/90. We sold a total of 73 25ths of at leased 4 were LHD apart from that I have nothing, if their is anything else you think I might be able to help with don't hesitate to email me. Best Regards Del”

My car has black carpet, dash top, roof lining and steering wheel. This though is incorrect for the car as the factory built the interior wrong, it was ordered with cream carpets and red piping. I have letters from the factory and Portman apologising to the 1st owner.

Car even has the original key ring which is blue and gold and matches the intereior floor mats. Car still has the protective film in the foot wells and behind seats.

I’m told by some respected people it could be one of the most original cars in the world, car has not received any paint, wheels and interior have never been refurbed. Car is as it left Portman in April of 1990

Okay I see you are not speaking of the Viola 25th.

Very nicely preserved example, 4,050 miles is barely run-in!

I was a Countach owner when these were being delivered and I recall that Del Hopkins & Portman were swamped by the deliveries of the new 25ths, the factory was hard-pressed to keep up with demand, perhaps why they got the interior spec wrong, nonetheless a cool story, I'm sure I saw your car when it was new.

The dark blue carpet cover-mats with logo are Portman Lamborghini issue for these cars, very nicely done.

    Thanks joe,

Would love to have seen a pic of the car at the factory. I used to gaze through the glass at Portman as a 14 year old. Quick question, did the standard exhaust have Ansa stickers on the pipes? Mine have the residue of the stickers but no stickers

NO, that was the Turbo, this one burnt down when the house burnt it was parked in its garage.

  19. Sounds cheap. Not much to go on in the description. The mileage is off (they claim it as a 6 speed too) , but I wonder if it was the same 89 I was talking about earlier in the 200k Countach thread. The location is right, the colors are right, the US bumpers, the service work, etc.

Yes you are right, it's the same car, ZA9CA05A9KLA12705, as featured in the previous Ad:
    https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used-Lamborghini-Indianapolis-m34_L9065#listing=223782312

Except the stated odometer reading in the Ad is much lower that that stated by Mecum regardless of whether we are talking about kilometers or miles, that said, as this is a Tipo USA car it should be the latter.

You'll also note that the car is listed as an "Automatic" in the Ad, which underscores how much faith you should have in the details contained within it.

That figures...My friend was told to make an offer, but I think he was afraid he would end up owning it. I don't think he was thinking that cheap, however. The door damage is what bothered me. I have yet to see any Countach with similar cracks (look closely it is into the black paint as well). Front clip repainted. Needy car, but with promise for someone with the ability/willingness to tackle it.

On the strength of those cracks alone I would subject this car to close scrutiny in terms of a thorough inspection.

I just checked, you are right, sorry, I was thinking of same-era Ferrari F40s.
