Amazing how the appreciation curve the anniversary as of late has been amplified. I can’t imagine getting this money for My car, but it serves as good justification to the wife
$738k was pretty much as expected for this carbureted 25th, we are now routinely selling 85-87 skirt-less Downdrafts for well over $1m. Meanwhile KLA12670 is our former car, it's not looking nearly as nice as when we owned it years ago condition-wise, in now has a wing whereas it was never delivered with one, and seems to have the USA DOT exhaust back on.
When I started this thread 9 years ago, the basic idea was an appreciation resource for this variant.
Crazy times. A revisit to everyone’s insurance coverage would be a good idea, especially stated values.
I was just saying this to the spouse. I am underinsured if the value is even close I will be increasing my value regardless
If you like Formula 1, the ex-Gerhard Berger 25th KLA12818 comes up for auction on June 26th, this is a Countach he acquired new when he was resident in Monaco and still racing for Ferrari. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Apologies I meant to add this screenshot of the auction, someone sent this to me and I haven't had time to check it so I hope it isn't outdated information! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Seems like the special 25th are all being sold and for top dollar. The outliers are pushing the average value up but may not be what the real values are. Time will tell
The premium is because the fact that the Silver/Red is a one-off livery as opposed to Silver being a cool color, if the factory made dozens in Silver then it wouldn't matter but paint color rarity does bring a premium especially when the rarity is universally accepted to be aesthetically pleasing. How much of a premium? Perhaps 10%.
Two new listings https://www.classic.com/veh/1990-lamborghini-countach-za9ca05a0lla12897-nBX2R9p/ And this one’s interesting https://www.classic.com/veh/1989-lamborghini-countach-25e-anniversaire-ex-gerh-pGR2vjW/
Anybody care to guess how many as-new Countach 25ths are still out there? Here's one, just 182 miles, Rosso Perlato, mint, they can only be original once, someone should buy it, service it, and start driving and experience 1990 all over again. What means a good price these days? If you look back just one year, we would say this is a great result. Just because the market is going insane in US, doesn´t mean it is in Europe too.
In regards to the US, I think you'll see more realistic prices soon. Real estate has been insane. Inflation etc. Cars & real estate don't go up 10-20%, or more, each year and be sustainable.
Seems like a good result to me. In regards to the current economic situation, the housing market will slow, more inventory will remain on the market, less loose money will be floating around. The high end collector car market is less affected but s to some extent.
