Does anyone one here have additional information on the LP400S listed for sale here, good or bad? What are your thoughts on the asking price of $149,500? Thanks.

I have seen it. It is a somewhat rare Countach version (within a rare breed). Nice condition. Interior appears to be redyed. Price struck me as a little high, but I have not been looking at Countach pricing lately so I do not know if it is reasonable or not. Overall nice car. If you are serious, it would be worth contacting Gary and taking a look.

The S1 lowbody, is the rarest car of the entire Countach series. There were only approx 51 cars produced. - That is not a lot of cars to supply all of the worldwide markets. The price seems a little high for the USA. Outside the USA, the car may actually bring that kind of money. I do feel the S1 is exclusively for a Countach specialist. It does not have enough differences, to seperate the car from the pack, for all but the hard-core L enthusiast who knows what the car actually is.

For everyone else seeking a collectable different Countach, the early clean LP 400 is the car to buy.

I actually like the look of the non-S better- no flares, better cleaner line. The S took the newer Pirelli tire, and had more horsies, right? But the really early cars still had that trough in the roof, even if there was no periscope anymore. Does anybody have a pic of the early ones? You can see what I mean about the cleanliness of line....

I agree with you 100%. If I was in the market for a Countach, I wouldn't look at anything other than a LP400. In this case, it is a friend who is interested and he's into the bulging fender flares and large rear wing. We might drive down to look at the car tomorrow but, as neither of us are really Lambo guys, we have no idea whether or not this price is in line with the current market.

I noticed that Gary refers to the car as a "lo-roof" car. So, there is a noticeable difference between these and the series II 400S cars? I'll have to look around for photos for a comparison. Lambo Registry says:

Now, they say that the car is lower due to suspension geometry, but there are apparently differences in the chassis and body that make it even lower, correct?

The lower ride height would work well in Dubai, assuming you don't go off into the sand, as the roads there are level and perfect. I wouldn't want to hit a minor pothole in that pup or attempt to drive it across the Cross Bronx Expressway...

For sure. The S1 has less interior headroom/"lo-roof", and additionally the car sits much lower than the LP 400S2, some have magnesium Bravo telephone dial wheels, and the S1 car has the factory engine with higher lift cams and bigger carbs (as does the early "clean" LP 400). The S1 car is the lowest car of the entire series. - Thankfully most cars do not have a wing.

From what I heard, owners were complaining about the clearance of the front fascia.
