I'm not against tuning etc but I feel this baby needs the love and attention its missed all its life. The car is gorgeous by the way and i think your right in saying it isnt as bad as you first thought, cosmetically anyway.

Have you cleaned the body yet?

That seems to be a common problem. First time I saw the CT wing I just wondered what amateur made it... Rather crude IMO (you'll see when you take off the paint)

But anyway... Congratulations with your fantastic find!

For some pics of the restoration of the Countach 5000S of a friend of mine (especially the engine), check here: http://www.klassiekerrally.nl/index.php?page=lambo-countach

Love and attention it will get, all that she needs and plenty more. I'll be making up for a decade of neglect.

Have not cleaned the body, no. It was pouring down like cats/dogs on the 90 minute journey the other night from pawn shop warehouse to my shop. The inch of exterior dust/dirt/grime kind of coagulated. I think I'll wash her tonight and see how she looks sans kitty footprints. After 6 pm on Capitol Hill (Seattle) the meter maids go back to their lair and I can push this baby on to the sidewalk/street and have at it.

You might want to leave it stock.

You can still get into plenty of trouble and spend a pile of cash without reinventing anything.

Careful washing it for the first time... especially being black and extra dirty. Drench it with soap (best to use a foaming spray gun)
and then drench it some more. Let the soap and water lift all the dirt before you ever touch it. Then be careful not to use a rag/towel/sponge
once it has dirt on it. This will prevent you from dragging dirt across it and causing new scratches. This will require multiple rags etc. but and will
take extra time but will be worth it. To dry it's best to use an electric leaf blower (gas ones introduce exhaust into the blown air which is dirty).
You probably know all this but having a black car also I feel compelled to throw it out there. Good Luck.

this is easy to answer: do not do it
take it to someone who knows them (Evans is perfect) and you will never regret it

weber cars are one of the things you will love of it: the sounds they make is a big part of the countach fascination
and when properly tuned they are good for performance (emissions and fuel saving not really...but who cares? ;) )

keep in mind these cars are already classics, your car is a RARE machine!! and everything custom would devalue it BIG time (with the exception of a nice sport exhaust, better if the original ANSA SPORT one)

Don't worry about the bubbles on the wing just slap another snorting bull sticker over the bubbles LOL, just kidding. I all seriousness as George Evans said, the wings are known for this type damage. I guess that doesn't matter seeing that it sounds like your going to remove it (some love them some don't, not judging either way on personal preference). As far as the engine mods it your car, but I like many would be against doing them. Keep it pure in my opinion there are plenty of other cars to do this to. The Countach is not one of them, the Countach is an Icon and should be kept in pure form. Best of luck, Sincerely Vic

First congratulation on the find. Having a girlfriend like yours helping clean is above and beyond.

I fully agree with Emilio, if there is money to spend, spend it on an ANSA sport and keep the carb tuned by a good mechanic. If mods to be done, seek small ones that improve on the original engine or the one that keep the overall original concept. My friendly opinion only. These cars are powerful but for speed a recent corvette may be better and cheaper. Your car is simply a classic to enjoy like people use to enjoy fast car in the 70s-80s. They have this rough edge that you cannot find anymore in any new cars. Something that guys like R. Nader will never comprehend.

Sound advice you guys. This isn't the car for radical ignition/fuel system mods. Some mild head work would be allowed, yes? It could be our secret!

Emilio do you provide 'lambo parts and such as a profession? I'm going to be needing a lot of items, so if you are ready for a big list of stuff please let me know.

Yes, you can get very good gains in power from the heads. George Evans does a 17 angle valve job on the 2 valve engines which improves the HP dramatically.

Here you go. One benefit of having a Countach wing with paint bubbling issues is you can put your can of Tecate there without guilt.

As far as the price goes, well, I sort of covered that earlier. Not that it really matters though, I suppose. I mean, someday if/when I sell this car it really wouldn't matter to the prospective buyer what I paid. The car would be worth whatever it was worth regardless if my mom gave it to me for being good or if I paid $1.1 mil in 1990.

Remember how I said I paid much, much closer to 4 figures than 6 figures? Thats the best I can do for now, sorry :)

Don't know Dinkel although it does push rather well/easily with 50 lbs of air in the tires. Check back in 8 - 10 months.

you must be just 'jacked' out of your mind!!!! Admit it - you walk around it and stare and shake your head in disbelief don't you? :) Although I am a bit biased...Countach's are THE most exotic car of alltime and you have a sweet one with a sweet story and you are sharing it with your sweetie! Well done! We are all appreciative of this story!

4 figures being $9999, and 6 figures being $100,000? So, average that out, and thats $50,000. Now if you paid "much" closer to 4 figures, I would have guesses $45,000. But since you paid "much, much closer" to 4 figures, I guess $40,000 :) ...

Now, if you had said "I paid much, much, much, much, WAY less, much, much less" than 6 figures, I would have figured $35,000.

So, come on, make me feel badly. If you paid less tah $50,000 for it...you stole it.
