This is the same car, I think the chassis number was mentioned earlier in the thread but I can't find it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Another whose chassis number I'd like to know is this Downdraft asking $680k in Dubai 1985 Lamborghini Countach, United Arab Emirates - JamesEdition I think I'll contact the seller to find out. Image Unavailable, Please Login
ZA9C005A0JLA12283 is an early production 88.5 Downdraft first registered February the 1st 1988. The rear foglight has been replaced with a back-up camera lens. Image Unavailable, Please Login
ZA9C005A0FLA12817 was first registered April 22nd 1985 making it one of the very first Downdraft built. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The paint is PPG and the oil is Agip! Respect Joe! Even with 76 oil in the engine and Spies Hecker on the surface it would have been the most wonderful Countach. L-E
you are correct, it cannot be GLA12951 because of the engine lid. since 1992-04-23 registred in Sweden - Stockholm registred DUR 690, before MMA 746, first registration 1987-07-22
Thanks Raymond, yes definitely a 1987 car as belied by the engine lid with no side-vents and no side-skirts.
Has anyone seen ZA9C005A0JLA12308 in recent times? Another Downdraft I saw when new @ Portman Lamborghini in the summer of 1988. Apparently still UK-registered E 990 NUC? First registered May the 1st 1988. Note twin rear fog-lights and white badges. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some more picts digged-out from my archives (june 1986): engine bays Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not seen but DVLA records show this as SORN [statutory off the road notice] and MOT [roadworthy certificate valid for one year] expired 30th June 2016. This suggests that it is not currently in use but was roadworthy just over a year ago so chances are it is still around somewhere on this registration plate...
Thank you for these historical gems, Bruno! These 2 images below even show the white date-stampings upon the radiators which the cars had when new. We will have these on GLA12997. Thank you to Alex who drew my attention to this! Priceless. I can also see that sometimes the main air-hose clamps were black, not my preference. Unlike the Miura before it, the Countach (including the Downdraft) was 100% hand-built at Sant Agata, upon a Marchesi-prepared chassis. Very special.
As Ken stated earlier, its the final fettling details that take time! Excuse the cellphone pics, a few proper pics to come. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Now the car is almost all back together, I am beginning to see the reward for all that painstaking effort in disassembling & hand-cleaning & polishing all the lenses etc. Image Unavailable, Please Login
