Joe - How can one not be head over heals impressed by the mighty Countach DD - one of the truly great icons - and the detailed work You produce and share. Thanks for the link. Arvid
Thank you Arvid. There is a difference between just doing work and a Labor of Love, and so, I have compiled most of the enthusiastic & kind comments many people have made, and shared them with my restorer. Without speaking for them, I know they are touched, as am I when I read them.
I agree, even though I’m generally not a model-guy as I said in my response to Jono, of course, its an honor, as I pointed out in my previous post. Since you bring this up, aren’t there at least twelve (12) Bianco Isis Murcielago SVs? I know you claim its a 1-of-1 of its exact spec (color/transmission/other details), but then by that overall measure, many Lamborghinis are a 1-of-1! I guess that's what makes Lamborghinis unique, compared to say, Ferraris. Also, isn’t the Matte Brown color not original, the scale-model being based on a ‘wrap’ of the car, which no longer exists as the car is back to its white color? I guess the model serves as a reminder. BTW, my wife has a special-order Range Rover with chassis number 66666 (for real, no kidding), also in white, as shown below. Even though many Range Rovers are white, I’ll be sure to tell her its a “1-of-1” it'll make her day JK, but you get my point Incidentally, MR models have come out with another Matt Brown MSV, this one with black wheels. UK-registered B 1 USH, ZA9C005A0HLA12122 is finished in a 1-off livery of Verde Chiaro Metalizzato with a dark red interior (!) first registered March the 6th 1987. I wish I had good images of this car rather than this 20-year-old one, because I gave seen this car in person a few times and I must say it is stunning. The green is a light green and the red is dark red. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dino's new Downdraft leaving an event from a few years ago [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKGR9wtmsmw[/ame]
Another unusual-liveried Downdraft is this Bianco Perlato RHD UK-registered car which had a light green leather interior, dark green carpets etc. I may be wrong but I believe this car no longer exists after a bad accident. Image Unavailable, Please Login
2001 Murcielago presentation, on Friday night we came back from our honeymoon in the Maledives, Saturday at 4am we drove wo St.Agata. You already asked about 3 times about the silver QV, I've never seen this car in Switzerland.
I hear you fella. Some bits are much harder to find than others. But good of you to post up your lovely toolkit and make us all jealous !
Correct, the Matt Brown was a wrap at the time, it also was a 50th anniversary Matt Yellow wrap for a few years. I have since changed it back to its born with Bianco Isis. As far as 12 "White"cars...most of those white are either the Matt White finish or the Balloon white finish. I consider mine a 1 of 1 due to its configuration, not just its color... It is THE ONLY Manual 6 speed SV with the Small "speed" wing. It has brought me a lot of joy and still delivers miles of smile as each year goes by. It was the FIRST SV delivered to a customer in the USA..I took delivery 1st week of July 2009. It also carrys car #12 on it, which I requested and they did it for me. (also for others that made a specific # request)
Great memories. Yes I keep asking about that Downdraft, it is stunning, I'd love to know which one it is, I'll ask vale if he remembers.
So I looked the car over quickly and here is what I see that could use attention, this car deserves to be brought back to its original glory, and I daresay the engine is the nicest (and most important) part. Assuming the engine has great leak-down and compression and Vale says it drives well, the obvious list would be: - Remove interior gear-shift boot - Remove interior non-original (silly) plaque - Remove (gaudy) aftermarket mats - Replace exhaust with Ansa F1 or Quicksilver ceramic-coated satin black - Remove bull badges on the doors - Replace wheel center-caps - Refit factory 88.5 side-skirts and rear wheel arches * The last item will be the most costly & time-consuming as it will involve paintwork. There may be brake & suspension items to address and I may have missed some things but do all the above and then you'd have a really nice Rosso Siviglia/Bianco 88.5 Downdraft.
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the current generation of replacement Ansa exhausts has extrusion pipes within the tips that are bigger diameter than the original units (for whatever reason), producing a sound that is less "Basso" IMO. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cars that I am still searching for VIN identities include this lovely Blu Acapulco 1985 or 1986 Downdraft, currently French-registered 1928 YD 78, as shown this past summer. The car is often seen in the Paris area. Perhaps our French connection can help? Image Unavailable, Please Login
The same car seen almost 20 years ago with the same registration, this time imaged in Monte Carlo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Another one I'd love to be sure about is this 88.5 Downdraft seen here at Goodwood shorty after the owner picked it up at Sant Agata, Italy and drove it back to the UK on EE plates. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's the first time I see a Countach with a skid plate protecting the transmission and oil pan/differential - ghastly!
Swiss equipement because of the noise laws, many have them removed. The parts manual shows it on a dedicated page.
besides the aftermarket flairs it seems like a very nice and well kept QV. I remember a German white 400S with the same rear flairs. It is a period mod (even if not factory) so maybe someone may opt to keep them.
any more info (timing, lift, or a part number)? I have wondered about changing cams**, but I'm unaware of any "off the shelf" possibilities. The only information I have is from my owners handbook, although one engine modifier who looked, described it as surprisingly mild. **yes I know I should keep her original, but a) I strive to make changes that are easily reversable (bolton/off) b) Its my car
The French connection Reply: ZA9C005A0HLA12093 Nice Countach and the brother of the owner own Jalpa 12404 the last sold new in France. Eric
