    thank you
I know of #5060 however in the pics ive seen its silver, but in those 2 pics it looks grey.
some sort of filter used I think as the DD colour also looks darker than the usual reds.
anyways thats my excuse for not recognising it.

and now back on track with the DD thread now.

I heard today that the red lhd DD (possibly an 88.5) thats been lurking and broken in a Cardiff lockup is finally being sorted (its been 2 - 3 years since i saw it) - either the whole car or possibly just its engine is now off being rebuilt.
Oh and it conformed to me that it was once white, though not sure if that is its original colour.

currently trying to get the reg and chassis number

5060 does have a grey tint, and is not pure Argento (like the sills & wheels are) to my eye.

Keep us posted of the Cardiff Countach, I know of one there with side-skirts that needs everything, but its not an 88.5, its an earlier car. But it may be a different one from that of which you speak.

Nick, speaking of Wales, perhaps one of the most epic Countach road-tests is when racing driver Tiff Needell took a Downdraft to Wales and let loose on its excellent roads. He really put the car through its paces, and I remember the guys at Portman Lamborghini complaining that perhaps he caned it a bit too hard!

Anyway, its worth a re-post, an epic Countach piece, one of may favorites.

We are indeed talking about the same car!

pm replied - its not the same car
im fairly reliably informed the Cardiff car is a "QV with the big downdraft carbs and a huge wing on the back"

All i saw was a few glimpses where i lifted the cover a bit, but i wasnt permitted to remove it properly.

red - rosso siviglia (or similar) with the caulking around the arches etc in body colour not black, I was told this was done when the owner had it sprayed from white to red.
    cracked windscreen
    engine doesnt run
I recall that 88.5 style skirts were fitted too

a project if ever there was one

Yes. It was white with white mirrors with a wing. Then white with black mirrors without a wing. Then it was like this.....

    Yes, I would think so.

Then you might as well hold out for what is correct for your car, which would have NUOVA LAMBORGHINI embossed in blue and have blue piping on the gloves.

It's been brought to my attention that John Wittrig (who has owned his Downdraft from new http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144931837-post4062.html) competed with his standard-spec car in the Virginia City Hillclimb @ 20 years ago and finished 9th of 67 cars, bested only by machinery that was much-modified to race-car specs, beating some impressive cars, Dodge Vipers, Acura NSXs, Porsches (a RUF among them!) and a host of Ferraris & Audi Quattros.

Not bad for a production car...

I once saw John drive this Downdraft on the circuit between races @ the Palm Springs Vintage Grand Prix around the same time, and the general impression I got was that he basically drove the car as fast as it will go

    Apologies for the long list.

So here it is, just pre-accident then?

Was this car delivered new to Nick Asher or Brian Strudwick?

Incidentally the LHD black/white Downdraft also for sale at the time is the car I belive was owned by the gentleman from KSA resident in Switzerland.
