You should get him together with your Downdraft when he is next in your region, he will undoubtedly remember your car from new, but more importantly, I think he would be impressed with it's current running disposition if he was offered the chance to drive it. Remember, he drives a fair number of cars which are not always running as they can or should. As regards what its like to drive with Valentino, we tried to capture a little of that in our short film
Correct. My pleasure. I think you should post your beautiful white Downdraft we discussed when you are ready to do so.

Thanks for sharing this. My feeling about these cars nowadays is simply that they have undeniably become valuable collectibles, which operate, look and retain their value best when the approach you've described is followed. If anyone cares to ask me, when we restored GLA12997, we retained & reconditioned all components and the vast majority of all nuts & bolts, we made that a priority. The hardware items we replaced were mostly things like all the incorrect hose clamps with OEM items, and of course, all the copper rivets. That said, many years ago, I had dinner with a man who took great pains to describe to me how he had refurbished the entire engine of his vintage Lamborghini 2+2 with some basic tools, a piece of wood, and a cost of $19. He was thrilled, and I understood that it was his car, he was happy and that's all that matters. I haven't forgotten that lesson. MYH.
I don't know Valentino, but if you speak with him, please let him know he has an open invitation to drive the DD if he is ever in my area!
Does anyone have a link to the video with Chris Harris and the Countach? I can only find the 1 min "How to park a Countach" video.
love the story reg the guy rebuilding his engine with simple means. The real beauty of these old machine, this is why we love them, a fantastic combo of exoticness( not shure if that is actually a word) and basic cool engineering.

Yes, it's on the list, FWIW, the car is @ Dugan's to correct that plus a number of other minor things, and receive well-deserved maintenance.
