I vaguely seem to recall that some time back you thought the red QV with red wheels that was featured in the October 1985 issue of the Australian "Modern Motor" magazine ended up in Hong Kong, Joe? I may not be remembering correctly, however...

    Joe,
I am always interested in where the cars are and their owners..(which sometimes a Registry will have if the owner doesnt mind).. the hard part seems to be with the ever changing updates and changes in info for each car.. so how would you plan to keep up with it?

Correct, although confirmation they are one-and-the-same would be nice

I think a Registry would be fairly straightforward because we are talking of only just over @ 300 cars, and, the way I read the ownership landscape the past few years, many of these Downdrafts are settling into long-term ownership, so I don't anticipate frequent ownership changes as happened in some past decades, say, the 90s.

Resource threads like this one generate significant intelligence worldwide, frankly, I am contacted by many people offering corroborating information it seems a shame not to do something with it and share it to the benefit of the real focus - the cars.

I personally don't have the time to run a Registry and keep up with all the updates, news and changes, so I'd draft someone in to take care of it properly, as is my preference, if I'm going to do something I'd like it done right or not at all, and it will be quite different from any other Register out there.

    Joe,
in my books I never mentioned the current owner of a car. But the alternative is to mention the country in which a car is residing.
I never had any problems with that kind of info.

French dealer plates I think, the car imaged in Paris.

Yes, that's a good idea, I have seen some great registries where the car is simply describes as "USA-based" or "UK-based", which underscores the fact that registries are about the cars.

Waiting for the new Cinturato P7s to arrive, looking at period images of the cars on them, to my eye they look so right, and quite different that the square-shouldered P Zeros

What a difference that makes, especially with high-resolution images!

  11. Just awesome! I stopped by Barnes & Noble earlier and picked up a copy. I gotta say, seeing the copy on the stand & watching the restoration on this site, Joe, and even buying Jalpa Parts from Raymond years ago gave me a little sense in pride on this.

Still interested in this mystery Downdraft seen in Monaco and Italy in the summer of 1994, apparently on fake New York plates AXK 600, said later to have moved to the South of France

    The Cinturato P7s Have Landed!

Thank you Pirelli for listening, thank you Dougal for keeping the faith, and thanks to all those who have helped this process.

Date codes are 1118 for all 4, so I assume this means the 11th week of 2018, so, these were made in mid-March?

Not that it matters too much but I'm not sure about this, so feel free to correct me

Since the restoration was completed in late 2016, with all the adventures my wheels have a gained a little rash, plus to my eye they were a tick off in terms of tint & hue so I'm going to take the opportunity to refinish them for this special occasion

Thanks Jim, so, they were made @ 12th to 16th of March 2018, just over 60 days ago.

Given that the post-restoration suspension setup of our car is optimum, I expect these units to be transformative to it's handling.

    We'll see.

I don't think actual production has started, Pirelli were waiting for Harry Metcalfe's handling report from the UK, https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/145975057/ & https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/145978429/ which he indicated he would send in this week, and based on that, they should be going into production.

The prototype set sent to me was, I think, just a courtesy set, as I havent formally been asked to submit a report. That said, to be helpful to prospective buyers I will submit my findings in this thread in due course, not immediately though, as by the time I refinish wheels and mount these it'll likely be early next month at the earliest.
