Yes, as a passenger. I remember that it was a well running car and I liked it. I still don't understand why you sold it.

I got tired of the whole Lambo stuff over years, all the happenings in the diverse clubs, all these overpriced events in the last years...
Since I drove her in 2015 only about 3 times I knew it was time to step away.
Don't misunderstand, I still love the Countach, it was my childhoods dream car but I don't need to own one at the moment, some few times I miss here.
If I want to join the community I'll organize myself like the Balboni event this year which we visited privately and had a lot of fun.

I think it is in Central Europe, pic below.

When I received the car from Raymond, I drove it pre-restoration, and it ran very well as you attest, post-restoration it runs even better IMO.

Being in the business, I have come to gain an understanding that there are a million reasons why someone sells, all of them are good to the seller, and should be understood & respected.

I've told the story before and I'll tell it again: when Raymond came to me to sell, I tried to sell GLA12997 to everybody with no success, so, in order to take care of him as my client, I bought it myself, and then immediately thought: "what the heck am I doing with a car which needs restoration that nobody wants?". I restored her anyway, and the rest is history, now, a not inconsiderable number of people wish I would sell, and not all for the right reasons!

Anyway, I promised Raymond I would do right by the car and I did, we enjoy her, and its not going anyplace.

    Totally understand, Raymond

I think the same, and I also think that your photo shows that car.

With Raymond's answer, I can follow his thoughts although I don't think that I would sell for these reasons. You are saying that you will keep it. This I fully understand. Respect for almost any decision by the owner: sure.

I know what you mean, absolutely, but it's a tough decision to sell for these reasons.

Yes GLA12989, I post it here often, James Chen's car, Los Angeles based, he drives the wheels off it, he's had it @ 10 years, ex-Lou Miraglia.

He sent the car a few years ago down to Bobileff's to delete the ugly USA rectangular side-markers that had been put on the car when it came into the USA decades ago, and Bobileff returned the car to him with no front fender indicators!

I have helped him locate them and they will be installed, he tells me.

    Fabulous Friday Fun.

GLA12997 & 1121374, both restored by Dugan Specialties.

The high-resolution images by the photographer are a lot better than these cellphone images embed here on FChat.

Great pics Joe. The newly restored black DD is sitting a coupe of inches higher in the rear and front compared to your car. I like the stance of your car more.

    Thanks.

The black car is actually the award-winning LP400S S3 1121374, S3 ride as high as LP500S, not a Downdraft, that said car number 3 is a black Downdraft that is getting close.

Yes, Bianco Perlato from new, repainted as such, correct, before James it was owned by John in MA, then Tony in FL, and Lou in CA.

So the QV models left the factory with a slightly lower (than the S3 and LP500S) ride height?

From what we've observed, the front end was lowered slightly, giving it a more downward pitch at the front, compared to the earlier variants.

If you look at the side profile of the LP400S S3 and the LP500S, the nose is a little higher in the air, and this effect is exaggerated especially with the LP400S S3 as it has a narrower front track and 205 profile tires (the latter as also the case with the LP500S) and the shadow cast makes it look like it's sitting even slightly higher.

This pair of images illustrates what I was trying to say in the previous post, as you can see, with the QV the the front end was lowered slightly, giving it a more pronounced downward pitch at the front, compared to the LP400S which is level, the 'air' under the side sills shows this clearly.

Bear in mind that the LP400S is fresh from restoration and has hardly been driven so it may settle @ 1 inch, whereas my Downdraft has settled into it's running ride-height.

This image shows that the QV's front track is significantly wider than that of the LP400S, my son, driving the LP400S with narrower 205 series P7s fitted says it makes the steering quite light
