Excellent! Thank you, Ian! The Countach at Earls Court in 1974 was LP400 #1120026, the first RHD Countach, indeed painted 'Rosso Corsa'.

One of the very few LP400 I could never identify: Black or Dark-Blue exterior Red interior VIN should be between 1120060 & 1120140 (both possibly included) If anybody remembers this Countach or got more photos of it... LP400 #1120174 "Blu Notte - Bianco/Blu" Japan, summer 1977 First and last time we ever saw this Countach... Where are you hiding? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Victor.. i didnt want your nice topic to go away so here is a picture of a picture (i dont have original period pics) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you very much, Ken!! Actually I needed a break, mostly to focus on my new job, but now I'm back to business with many more Countach stuff! This topic won't die. That LP400 you shared here is the famous #1120010 purchased for a record-breaking $ 2 Million several years ago and beautifully restored by Kidston! Here's the car when red, and nowadays: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This car came down the line in green, then was refinished in red, and left Sant Agata as a new car in red, correct?
Victor, I think you'll like this one: Argento/Bianco RHD LP400 in South Africa in the 1970s Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fantastic photo, Joe!!!! Thank you for sharing it! This LP400 was #1120168 when new. Later repainted Yellow - Black, exported to the UK and sold to Toby Smith of Jamiroquai. It's one of only two LP400 (with #1120274) sold "in kits" to South Africa and assembled there by Intermotor Makers (also named Interplan at some point), in order to avoid huge import taxes. Officially, those two cars were built in S.A., not Italy! I knew #1120168 was not yellow originally but I could never get the proof of it being Silver. Now, yes! Argento - Bianco is a truly rare combo: That makes only two LP400 and zero LP400S!
Okay, here is another image, this time from Monte Carlo, in 1977, EE.60991 plates will tell you which one this is Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's a crying shame they changed 1120168's beautiful Argento/Bianco livery. And, I'm crying thinking of the very low price it was offered to me circa 1987 when it left South Africa! Image Unavailable, Please Login
David Thieme's #1120232 of course! This Countach was parked all the time around the Hotel De Paris in Monaco back in the days... to the point the car appeared in several movies and race events! Ah yes, David Thieme, he was, in the words of the late great Colin Chapman, "a character", one who "could charm the birds from the trees". Meanwhile, on IG posts I can see that the tradition he started of seemingly casually leaving Countachs parked around Monte Carlo on race weekend in order to attract attention is still alive and well!
The someone who posted these photos was me. I spent one summer, just one in Biarritz, 1980. I saw this car in the city a couple of times, everythting stopped of course, including literaly when he was leaving a parking space and put his hand out of the tiny window to ask for passage. I did not take photos but my friend Christopher de B. saw it with an unknown friend who took these. A few years ago I contacted the garage in a remote part of France whose sticker is on the back (last photo) and they stated the same thing, in fact I wonder if these are not my notes. Excellent thread by the way, I have some LP400 period shots I took in period in Paris and London but am swamped with work and they are stored. As humble Khamsin registrar I congratulate those who do the same here and thank for the photo in Japan showing an Lp400 a Bora and a Khamsin, now I have to identify it I went to Ciclet's in Bagneux many times back then. LP400 displayed in Monaco? Does two weeks ago qualify as period;-)? Sorry. SK's car during the Historic GP weekend. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The only image I've seen of the young Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi and the LP400 1120190 which is reputed to have been purchased for him by his Aunt Princess Ashraf Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good catch! Photos of the Iranian Royal family are very, very rare. There are no photos existing that shows the Shah with his Ferrari and Maserati! Particulary with his Maserati 5000GT Touring that was made on his special request while meeting Ingeniere Alfieri at a visit in Livorno, Italy.
this may be the first countach ive seen in the flesh... circa 79-80 i was youngling on my way to school on the bus in a typical PNW dreary morning rain. i saw this car, it jostled and woke me up. i knew exactly what it was since i bought a tamiya kit months earlier. I immediately jumped off the bus at the next stop. i ran off so quickly that the bus driver didnt have time to question me. the rain was pretty strong and the car was just parked in a small modest apartment complex. needless to say i was way late to school and soaking wet when i arrived but well worth it! I recognized this car because of the odd chrome mirrors and it was onced featured in a lambo poster i had with washington state licesnse plates. even at that very young age, i notice the build quality was suspect with the sloppy window sealant and corners of the glass in areas were cloudy.. there used to tons of exotics in seattle and vancouver during the 70-80s. unlike today where they werent handled with velvet gloves, many were driven in poor weathler, dirty and often parked in door ding central out in public. the cars were often owned by oil refinery workers, fishermen away in alaska or military airmen station elsewhere and left there cars behind. i kind of like that and i miss those days. unfortunately, in the 90s most of these cars and shops that catered them started to disappear.
david theme... awesome, but where is the zoro hat and his sidekick tony montana? ha i see one of champmans essex esprits in the smaller photo. can i mention how much i love this thread again?
Indeed. When I owned the Shah's Miura SV 4870 circa 19-21 years ago, I called up Reza Pahlavi in Washington DC and we had several delightful conversations and ensuing email exchanges, I was left in no doubt that his dad the Shah truly just loved cars
