So I'm a Ferrari guy. However, now that I've gotten a couple of them I'm thinking its time to branch out and start looking at the countach. However, I don't really know much about it. I looked through the list of threads here, but there aren't that many. I've read all the ones that relate to me and they have been useful. I'm aware that the Countach is a little difficult to drive, and am fully expecting that. I believe the quote is that the only difference between driving the Countach and a washing machine is that you can see out of the washing machine?

I love the look of the older cars without all the random flares, etc. Love the no wing look too. What are the main differences in models and how does that effect pricing between them? Any help and insight is greatly appreciated!!

Ok, I've gone over the models.

What are the most "affordable" carburetor models?

  4. Probably the 5000s version.

Thank you for all of the replies, they've helped tremendously.

How difficult is it to remove the rear wing if I find a car that has one and I would prefer it didn't? Is it possible?

    veeeeery easy
is just bolted on the trunk lid
you have to unbolt and fill the holes

even better you can buy an other one and have both options (with and without wing)
i can get you a trunk lid for them

if your budget allows do NOT go for the affordable one: better to spend more for a sought after car, it will be worth it whenever will come time to sell
an LP400S lowbody or carbed QV would be good options imo

No, I did not sell it.....not sure if I can since I have become pretty attached to it. Black/red is growing on me.
ALTHOUGH a Red/tan LP400S sure would look great next to it :)

I appreciate that. I'm looking for white... would prefer a carbed car. The one at park place is interesting though, if only the price was very flexible. People were saying before that it was 40-50k over priced making it 80k-90k. How do the other models compare to this? Is the carbed LP 5000 or LP 4000 more or less?

I would say that the carbed 2V's are more $$ than the injected 4V's....just my opinion though. If you could drive both back to back you would understand my opinion...I think. A very good 2V carb car with great mechanicals is in the $120K+ range...at least that is what it would take to pry mine away. Also, most 4V injected cars I have seen have the ugly US bumpers and to convert over is not cheap.

  15. I drove a 5000qv fuel injected before I bought my 5000s carbed. Big difference on at least these two cars. Mine was worked on by Bobileff, and has the msd ignition setup, however. I just need to break down & get that ansa exhaust from Emilio :).

    i am with
i am confident the differnce btw a carbed and FI countach can only grow in the future (they are LAST of the carbed V12 from S.Agata! not a little thing imo)

as a reference: the blue 5000S carbed, low miles, sold in Swiss for 120k euro end of november

Emilio, can you get a front trunk lid as well as the rear? This would be for a LP400S.

    Thanks,

    Dan,
I am assuming the lids are for the Red/black LP400S you were looking to sell for your future in-laws?
What has happened to the car?
