Im debating if I should get a 88.5 Countach with fuel injection or a Diablo 30 for the same price.
I love them both and Im having hard time making up my mind. It would have been easier if the Countach had carbs on it hehe.
Also they seem to have come up in prices and I feel one of them might be cheaper regarding the way their prices are increasing.
Also they are a little above what I was planning to spend but I guess the extra money might be worth it in both of them.
If not I would get a 99 SV that fits just right in my budget.

Any thoughts on what to do?

    both great iconic cars

if i had to choose one i would go for a countach
if you cannot find a carbed one for the price of the SE30, go for the FI QV

    Diablo SE30 > Diablo SV > F.I. Skirted Countach

Just my own personal preferences here...

I am most interested in the Countach, but an F.I. 88.5 is the bottom of my Countach desirability scale. If it were carb'd with skirts, it would win, but both is a deal breaker for me.

Between the Diablos it would come down to the color of each and which car was better maintained over it's life. If I'm getting an SE30 it has to be Anniversary Purple.

    (biased)... Countach.
Have you driven both? I sat in the Diablo but never considered driving one due to the lack of room on the pedals. The Countach has a little more wiggle room for the feet. I was in your same shoes once. The Countach was always my dream car, the Diablo was as exciting to see. This kept me on track going for my dream car.

You really need to come to terms with what you want. BOTH are going to meet your wildest dreams of owning a Lambo, BOTH will turn heads, I can't possibly see you not being thrilled with either choice.

If your looking to make a buck off the car speak to the investors, if your following your passion, get in both and see which one WOW's you.

    Hope that helps....

+1 with ApexOversteer. Make sure it's apples for apples regarding condition.

    Condition is most important.

Diablo is much more driveable with a lot more creature comforts.

How are you going to use the car? Diablo is pretty user friendly once you get used to that big rear end behind you. :) It has more power and is easier to drive frequently, and being 10 years newer is more robust in build quality.

Countach on the other hand has a lot of "vintage" components and I'd imagine most owners don't put as many miles on them. You'll need to be a bit more gentle with it.

They are both in excellent condition.
The only one that lags behind regarding that is the SV, and its reflected on the price, but its not in a bad condition, it has more miles which its not always a bad thing and it has been well taken care of.

I have never driven a Diablo and I have driven only a LP400.
I suposse the 88.5 is an improvement over the lp400 but similar in some other aspects.
Also the 88.5 is a US car so it has the ugly bumpers. So I dont know how the market value considers that.
Apex why is that year on the bottom for you? Just because the carbs and the skirts or something else?

The cars would be more collectibles than drivers, I would get to use them maybe a weekend a month for street use.

I think the SE30 is the most collectable of the three you mention. I'd take either the SE30 or 99 SV over a 88.5 Countach. If you plan to drive the car a lot go with the 99 SV or look for a Diablo 6.0.

Collectability -> SE30 over CT US model
Driveablity -> everyone has its perception. Drive both.
    Head turning -> countach.

given the specific choice, I'll go SE30, no looking back.

I very much dislike the skirts. IMO, they ruin the whole look of the car by lifting it off the ground visually, something the highbody cars already don't need. Unskirted, the rocker panel curves under the body and into the ground, lowering the car to the eye.

The induction issue is about the sound the carb'd cars make and also the fact that prior to the QV, F.I. cars are a privateer conversion from factory. I don't know how many unskirted, factory F.I. QV's exist, but I know it won't be many.

In the end it's simply that I stopped shopping and have known exactly what I want my Countach to be since 1980. Low, Carb'd, and Winged.

Lots of points to consider here... and how much will you be driving the car?

I would personally go with the SE30 :)

Diablo for me....I like how they added a few curves to the more squared-off Countach design but still kept the basic shape.
