I think that credit belonges to early 50 s Corvettes, or their competitors, no historical composite credit to Lamborghini,in my book, at the end of the day, to me its all about its amazing design, and amazing hand/homemade combo of welds and shapes, finely curved surfaces, abrupt obstackels(scoopes) just fantastic, the most ikonic design ever, enjoy your day

  2. Yes the Corvette or even the Studebaker (Avanti) blazed the trail before Lamborghini was started. Part of the charm of the Countach for me has been the old world charm including the hand hammered panels & the tube chassis. Yours doesn't have the composite front hood?

    Nope
nope. Aluminum with a small square tube inner frame.

  4. When did they change to the composite hood? I’m pretty sure the US version had the composite hood, I guess it was on later fi versions.

Oh... lets not get bogged down by 3rd party magazine quotes now.. LOL If I really want a DD, you must really want a fuelie. Hell, you spent countless hours singing the praises of your Anniversary and contradict just about every single thing you say today.

    There's been no contradictions.

The difference is, I have actually owned/operated/maintained two Fuelies, and have then, proceeded to own a Downdraft again years after I started the 25th thread (which I still post in almost daily), and conclude that the Downdraft is superior.

You on the other hand, not-so-much, you've never even owned/operated/maintained a Downdraft to draw any experienced & unbiased conclusions worth any merit whatsoever, and your own statement speaks for itself

  9. I thought the composite hood was on all of the QV's. Nil's must be an early QV?

    Correct.

  11. I think cutting each other some slack would/could go a long way. Both sides have their opinions and nothing is going to change. Both of you are big names in the Lamborghini game. Enjoy each others conversation or leave. Life is short. Why bother if it's not fun. That's my 2 cents anyways...

Allan you would never guess who I saw today. At a local C&C was Roman. I have not seen him for sometime, maybe over a year.

Crazy this little article contradicts Sackeys point of view as usual. Crazy that an emissions legal motor could set the same times of 0-to100mph time of 10.8 sec as the DD test in Road and Track and Autocar, hit the same 180mph (even though the DD went only 179 in Road and Track, and only 166mph in Car and Driver) and the same 1/4 mile time of 13.0 Sec.

No need to beat the old horse. We all know this by now. Really 5,2 litre of fuel injected awesomness. The best variant of the Countach.

I like how Sackey is acting like the DD just simply destroyed the Testarossa. By the looks of it , it was about 2 cars ahead at the finish. Oddly, my F/I easily pulls my TR as well.

  23. Not really. I had many including several QV's in my hand. I'd say it's more on a car to car basis. I have always loved the heater ac controls of the earlier cars, the deckled of the 5000s and earlier cars, etc. I took mine out today for an extended ride. That thing flat out howls! They are worth the price of admission. In your case, if you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with! lol. :)

  24. Testarossa or 512tr? I've been in several 512tr's & helped do the engine out on one. That & my 5000s pull about the same at speed. At speed they were very similar, and the winner was a painful draw.

Joey, as you well know, I am only here by invitation.

As some like to say, meaningless, we've seen magazines obviously transpose Fuelie data for Downdraft data as Mike Call showed early in the Downdraft thread, and we know that some cars tested in the USA were not running correctly.

Meanwhile here are the Downdrafts tested that were actually running correctly and not mistaken for Fuelies:

    Factory official - 183 mph
    Autocar - 180 mph
    Sport Auto - 183 mph
Auto Motor und Sport - 185 mph
    Road & Track - 188 mph
    Fast Lane - 191 mph

Perhaps the wing bolted to the front hood of your car is the clue that the hood was changed pre-wing in the USA?

Of course it does, nothing wrong with that statement whether we are talking of a Countach or an F40, I've thrown away lots of cats, but deleting the cats does not however mean the car is magically the same as another variant.

That's okay, my opinion actually has a little value in the Lamborghini world.

Around the track, 5 seconds is an eternity.
