Or you can hollow out your cats and add a pipe inside so it’s straight through like I did before I changed the exhaust. It’s on the top of the cats so cannot see once installed. I also have a tubi exhaust with test pipes that I have sitting around doing nothing. I installed a “Joe sackey special” designed quicksilver exhaust. Since I changed to the euro taillights and removed the dumb bumperettes. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's been @ 6 years so it's worth reminding people that the unit I worked with Quicksilver to design for the Countach came about because the Ansa Sport F1 reproduction units are very poorly made with crooked bends and substandard welding, aso, they increased the exhaust tips diameter and this affects the sound negatively. Our system was purpose-built to my specifications featuring: - Perfected Mandrel bends with each bent section in one bend, causing bend radii of the 2 pipes between the muffler & tips to be as concentric as possible, and properly parallel trajectory of the muffler tubes and pipes heading in the same direction - 'Hollowed' silencers, free-flow mufflers with perforated tube-only internals - All welds of tube-joins & brackets filed to provide a smoothed exterior finish with seamless muffler tubes - Exhaust tips filed to provide a smooth & precise finish eliminating the jagged-edge tips of both Ansa & Quicksilver units previously manufactured - Exhaust tips polished, but muffler-tubes and pipes brush-finished to provide an excellent adhesion-base for subsequent satin black ceramic coating It is used with SS free-flow headers, these also ceramic coated satin black. I posted about my system in the Downdraft thread on pages 62, 103, 27, 208, 257 etc. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ceramic coated in period-correct satin black and mounted, visually, everything is period-correct, but the (flame-spitting) performance and sound is much improved, just what a Countach deserves. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes I was. It’s not easy, but way easier than installing headers in my Pontiac GTO. Just need patience. I have a hoist in my garage so it helped quite a bit.
I did use a set of factory headers. I purchased them from eurospares. Not sure if the aftermarket headers are harder to install?
It seems to pull a little harder at higher rpm. The best part of it is the sounds it makes with the headers. Also the engine must be breathing better with the more efficient exhaust system.
Yes Tim has been very very helpful and efficient. Got me a part I thought would take years in no time.
Seems I was abit too hasty sourcing the original. Oh well turns out after close inspection it’s the least of my mechanical problems ♂️
Exactly this, anyone who wants any variant of Countach to perform & sound at it's natural best should have this system, the sound is not just noise but a tuned deep enhanced sound, sweet V12 music, the bonus is, unlike the Ansa reproduction units this system actually looks like it was engineered & produced by a professional exhaust specialist as opposed to a blacksmith.

Good job. My cover is due for some work. Did complete brake flush 2 weeks ago. Drove it 10 or so miles , worked perfect,ac and all. My summer project will be sourcing a correct Alpine unit. Chime inn if anybody have one. Thanks
I have a NOS Boxed Alpine 7373 unit. All the fittings / paperwork. It's even from Italy, has Italian operations guide and warranty paper. But, I'm not sure I want to let it go. If I do, will be for rather a large amount. Try and find another etc. R
Your Countach will breathe and sound like few do! Assuming you already have the right unit in your car, don't hoard it, life is short, sell it for the large amount and make a fellow Countach owner who's in need happy.
That is a rare find. But right now it is nothing. It is only an alpine 7273 when it is in a car playing music. Until then it is a useless object taking up space. Please do not take my comments as disrespect. That is a gem and you are lucky. I found a used one that I will be installing in my qv. I would love to be able to purchase yours and install it. My car budget is almost used up for the year. Spent it all on titanium valve train parts and internals for my race car!!!
No disrespect taken. Not sure I agree about the useless object aspect. I know plenty of Car audio collectors who have a lot of kit that are not installed in a car. You could say the same about stamp collectors, useless unless put on a letter and mailed However, I've helped others get the right Alpine unit for their Countach and I'll be happy to see the unit go into another Countach. I'm not the ogre everyone thinks I am, unless of course you've spoken to my wife! I'm sure Nils will contact me to discuss when he returns from what looks to be a good trip. If Nils is not interested or we can't do a deal, then I can wait until next years car budget becomes live and we can discuss. I'm in no hurry. Rob
Yes that sounds like a plan. If this race engine doesn’t take up all my extra car funds I will let you know. Possibly it could be sooner than next year
