It is owned by my partner, you can always make him an offer he can't refuse. The worst he can say is No.

    Thanks Joe,

    What number is it? 1121***

It was most likely done by the same importer as the Cannon Ball car #1121112.

I know the car is not Concours condition but I am willing to restore the right car.

It is 1128. BTW that front "Wing" is actually a bumper.

    So like Greg's 2aftercannonball this one is 8aftercannonball ;)

I remember that is how the importer got around the bumper height law.

I really like the interior with the yellow exterior. I will be watching the auction closely.

i also hope it does really well.....i have a red one lhd sitting that i will eventually sell after i establish the true price of the yellow one...

the car shows very well for a non-restored ....i cannot imagine an orig. car with 28000 kms looking better or cleaner in any way..i spent lots of $ and time to clean everything and polish .... all that is needed is 2 buyers with a fat wallet !

i also would have preferred yellow over black..but in those years, even lambo used this idetical car and interior color for their brochure ! i guess it is a real 70's , disco era yellow, brown, burnt orange color scheme ! like in the john travolta movies !

my grandmother has window curtain with the same colors ...ahhhh the disco years !

i'll ask john bemiss to play a bee gees song or something...that will get people in the mood for a yellow/orange / brown car !

Congratulations Steve on your hard work on this LP400. I love to see an owner get stuck in and be a part of a car's refurbishment. Ive always enjoyed that myself.

Buyers from England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales, not to mention Australia & New Zealand etc. - take note: This is a rare one-of-a-handful RHD car which was originally built that way by the works.

The "Giallo Flay" with "Tabacco" livery is actually a symbolic one for the model and Lamborghini SpA saw fit to have their LP400 brochure and owner's manual adorned with a car in this exact same color scheme. Lets not forget that the one-and-only LP500 was finished in "Giallo Flay" as Nuccio Bertone thought that it showed the crisp wedge-shaped lines off better than and other color.

Steve you should do well with it. If anybody asks you its history, just say: "It was owned by some rich guy who was fascinated by guns but I forgot his name...." :)

Did you sell your LP400? I guess I missed that. You barely had time to enjoy it after getting it from Gary's(!) Hope you got all the money for it.

    All the best,
    Alberto

I did sell it after I jokingly mentioned a number to a European collector of renown. I was just kidding, but he wasnt and he sent a LOT of money instead of going away..... and I have another LP400 I can have, so it easily made sense.

The Australian tax system makes it stunningly expensive to import such cars. We also have a relatively high number of LP400's relative to the total Countach population here.

Unfortunately we don't see many expensive collectible classics making their way down under.

I can imagine. With the last LP400 I sold bringing $457,000 US, it would seem that if anything cars might leave Australia rather than go there.

I did the numbers on a 288 GTO about 6mths ago. Asking price at point of origin (England) was $442,500 US. Landed in Australia with duties and taxes paid the magic number was $673,500 US i.e. $231,500 US of Government charges. If you could get it registered in the state of Victoria, you could add 6% ($26550 US) bringing the grand total to $700,050 US........................... a massive $258,050 US of Government charges !!

Needless to say, we have only one 288 GTO in the country and it came here back when a 288 could be bought all day, every day for low $200k US.
