Japan has an awesome Countach culture ... pretty much a miracle to get 5 together here in the U.S.
Last I was @ Dugan Specialties there were 7 Countachs, the most I’ve seen in a shop. The most I’ve seen @ an event here was @ 12, a number that should be surpassed with a dedicated Reunion event.
It could be anytime at all, these events require someone who is willing to volunteer not inconsiderable time and effort, so it’s up to anyone who wishes to organize one. IMO if there are multiple events, even better. There can also be multiple anniversaries that could be used such as the launch of the LP500 in 1971, the commencement of production in 1974, etc etc, so the possibilities are endless.
Yes, looks like the Ossining NY event for the Countach Reunion. 2011 if I remember. Amazing time. I think a lot of owners were itching to get together after many years and this event was centrally located. And private. Valentino came. This was one of several times I had the pleasure of spending with Valentino. Gave me some good insight. Another angle of the 2010 Italian gathering put together by Evans. Might be 13 Countach's at that years annual event http://italiangathering.com/ig2010/show7.jpg
I meant to show the one pic posted by Ken showing the Countach's at the Italian Gathering, but I cant figure this computer stuff out
Hi Reiner..They claimed 15 showed up..I remember a few rolling in a bit late.. I can make out 14 in this pic Image Unavailable, Please Login
I managed 10 in the UK when I first ran the Countach Sunday lunch event, which for a small country is pretty good. As others who have run an event like this will know, it’s a serious amount of effort and faffing about to bring about. Rather special to have so many of these beautiful cars in one locale and the convoy is even better. If you have the chance to join such an event, grab it by the bull horns ( pun intended ) Rob Image Unavailable, Please Login
Exactly. It’s indeed a serious amount of work and anyone (such as yourself) who actually makes the effort to organize one should be commended.
I was at that event as you know. I think a lot of us let you down, when trying to keep it going in future years. I will never forget the sight of all those Countach spread out across the motorway - in front and in my mirrors. An 800mile round trip for me, and that alone was worth the back pain... Was at Monterey Speed Week last year, as I got the chance to race at the Reunion. Very keen to find an excuse to go back, so if anyone can organise a simultaneous Countach event, mine will be on the next boat over!
Hi my friend. You made a huge effort to attend and I’m both grateful and pleased that you joined. Yes, an awesome sight in the convoy. Your low body example was a sight to behold. All loved her. I don’t feel let down. It’s always a tall ask to find a date and location that works well for the majority of owners and I keep expectations low. The last event at Rockingham and thereafter, Stapleford Park was a great event. I’m sure i’ll attempt a gathering in the future. It’s been a while and overdue. All the best to you all and I wish all forum members a very happy NY and motoring 2019 Rob
Happy New Year's. The key to holding a successful show is not to let the participants dictate the date. I know that may raise a few eyebrows but it is true. The key is to find a 'reasonable' date and hold to that date for the years to come. After a couple of years, you will see more and more attend. Select a date that doesn't interfere with summer vacations or holidays and kids school events. Some years you will have a handful cars and some years you will have a very impressive amount. So, the key......stick to a date and be in it for the long haul. Be flexible with models, not just the Countach but other Lamborghinis(that's just a suggestion ) I speak from experience
We are seriously considering a Countach Rally and Reunion for our Miami Concours event. Last year we had 5 Countach examples from owners not including the 6 cars we had at our showroom. Who would make the trek to Miami? miamiconcours.com OR who thinks we should organize something for Monterey 2019? It is events like these organized by the passionate owners on here and abroad, AND guys like Joe who continue to enlighten the world with great information, that excite/inspire the next generation of collectors and continue to honor the Countach icon!
John let’s you & I chat in person about Monterey 2019, I’ll give you a call when I’m back, meanwhile Aloha from the Islands!
Too short notice for either one for me.. a friend and i have talked about visiting your place just for the heck of it at some point though! . As far Countach Reunion gatherings, i think people will be much more enthusiastic during a year that ties to a countach milestone, but John i would love to see something started as a yearly get together like what was happenig in the UK!
