For purposes of clarification, John's ex-Mimran LP400S Monaco Grand Prix F1 Pace Car is still in the correct Bianco color as it was (see below) so he doesn't have to change the paint, he plans to preserve it.

That said, even though we all know that an owner can paint their property any color they wish, I agree these cars should be preserved in their original livery for 3 basic reasons, stated not necessarily in order of importance:

    1. Respect to the original artisans, who are the makers of these cars, if we love these cars and want to preserve their legacy, this is a good way to show appreciation.

    2. Pride of ownership satisfaction, it doesn't get any better than when you can answer the question you will get hundreds of times about wether the car exists in it's original color with a yes.

    3. As a matter of simple economics, the irrefutable fact is that any classic Sportscar or Supercar is most valuable in it's original livery, and as these cars get more valuable, this becomes more significant.

Mike Perry, Portman Lamborghini UK's Sales Director back in the production period, just posted this image of CLA12550, Barry Robinson's Speed Record Countach LP500S with factory blueprinted engine.

Mike is one of the good guys who was always a great ambassador for the cars, he sold me my first Countach 32 years ago

Was this an early factory side skirt or aftermarket...if aftermarket, who made these ?...I've only seen a couple and I had a pair on a nearly brand new 1987 Countach that I purchased in July 1988...

Aftermarket, the confusion comes from the fact that they were fitted by official USA & Canada concessionnaires to a handful of cars @ new.

I think you might have enjoyed our 1120056 which we owned for a few years about a decade back, a special LP400 Periscopa built by the works for their VIP client the enigmatic Albert Silvera, complete with factory interior dedication plaque, dashboard TAG Heuer Rally stopwatches, special leather, and Dallara-tuned engine, the latter confirmed to me in writing by the famed Engineer himself. Another factory hot-rod. We sold it into the multiple Countach collection of the owner of DAF Trucks N. V. in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, who brought it to Villa D'Este a few years ago to much acclaim

Wow, that car is amazing. I know of an orange LP400 which can be bought, but the conditions are difficult.

If you look closely at the door panel of #1121314 you will notice it has unique door trim, almost looks like an experimental 5000S door panel. This was one way to identify the car at both the 1981 and 1982 Monaco Grand Prix. Once it arrives we will take more detailed pictures.
