Countach, the ultimate supercar

Seriously though, where do you start? None of the body panels and most of the frame will not be original on this car by the time they are done. Perhaps just the drivetrain and some other bits.

I give Simon a tremendous amount of credit for this one. Certainly not for anyone but the most experienced restorer and client.

 

Lamborghini used quite some BMW parts, hub pattern is identical, Brake calipers (BMW 728) etc.

He will come out very nicely. The body panels can all be duplicated, the chassis can be corrected, etc. My guess is what ever he paid, he will be in this car completed for under 600k. Yes originality will be mostly gone, but the novelty of a barn find lp400 brought back is a great story.

 

he's got an lp400 and I don't.
Sometimes, to me, condition is irrelevant.

 

I know where the jigs and bucks are in Italy, in order to make new upper frame tubes and LP400 body panels (even made by the original craftsmen). All missing original bits can be found.

I would happily take on that project.

9. Dash Light Rheostat - Alfa Romeo Spider
10. Climate & Light Dash Buttons - Innocenti DeTomaso and Innocenti Mille
11. Turn Signal/Horn & Wiper Stalks - Morris Minor & Rover
12. Fuel Injection System (K-Jetronic: DeLorean, Porsche, BMW, Saab, Volvo, etc...)

Agreed on both! He’s the right person with the right team to do it.

 

I hear all of your words but that color combination...swoon! For the right price, I would be all over this. With the right shop, it could be a very nice car. All it takes is some skill, proper tools (including a frame machine and Countach jigs/measurement archive) and a healthy sprinkling of cash. Perhaps the family got sick of trying to sell it and he swooped in and got it for a great price?

Interior color in the black car is very complimenting to the cars exterior color,

 

Slightly off topic here - but did Walter Wolf ever have any involvement with the Konrad KM-011? (It was powered by Lamborghini's 3512 engine) There is a photograph of the KM-011 at Nurburgring in 1991 with a Walter Wolf logo on its nose, but I have not been able to uncover anymore information.

Looks sexy, agreed, puddling around on lake Como or Garda, fresh water, hanging out,all good. In the real world of performance boating,the tiny 5,2 liters and low tourqe,ticks off all the wrong boxes in the boating world, cool yes,but no power or reliability in salt enviroment, any basic big block 7,4 litre Chevy will eat it for lunch, all day long ,year after year, change oil and go.
