Thanks, Joe. Armed with that I did a little more digging and found a post in the LP400 vintage photos thread by Lambocars666 back in 2016 that seems to cover 1120200's life quite nicely (I feel a little silly, actually, because I know I would have seen that post originally...).
Another splendid Countach 5000 S added to the www.countach-register.com This Countach was delivered new in November 1984 to Switzerland in Bleu Acapulco with a Champagne cruscotto testa di moro interior. Later this car was exported to the USA. Then it went to Japan. This car is owned by the well known Lamborghini enthusiast Mr. Nobuhiro Marumori, who kindly provided the VIN. He had the car repainted in a non original but very smooth light blue, Just LOVE it! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Marcello, the hide/interior is Champagne, the tdm is only the dashboard top surface - chocolate brown. Cool find, another swiss car identified, the gaps are closing step by step.
It's nice to have this one recorded for the Registry, but it's a shadow of it's former beautiful self with modifications to livery, wheels etc. Bear in mind that Bleu Acapulco with Champagne and a dark brown dashboard is truly sublime, one of the most aesthetically-pleasing and successful Countach liveries. His car, his money, but the departure from such the iconic and rare factory-original livery is less appealing IMO. We sold an LP500S in this stunning livery not that long ago. The very first Lamborghini of any sort that I drove was this one. That was probably 16 plus years ago. It was in Florida then, and is local to me now. I disguised a car search as a quick family trip. Got into town & everyone else went to the beach. Called the owner & the next thing you know I was in this. It would have been a great deal now & was a good deal then. I felt some kind of guilt that I was spending that much money on a car. Hard to explain. I passed, but could not get it out of my system, and luckily bought one. Saw it again yesterday at a local car show. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Coming to America. If you're in the USA and have ever wanted to see Countach Numero Uno up close & personal, head over to Pebble Beach this August, 1120001 is just about ready to ship. There may not be another opportunity to see this automotive icon in the aluminum, or it might be a while, the last time it was in the USA was 20 years ago. I love the stance of this prototype and the car's subtly different dimensions, at PB you can compare it with a standard LP400. Image Unavailable, Please Login
At my age time does now seem to pass in dog years and my memory is not so good but I think I remember seeing 1120001 at Concorso Italiano in 2007. Looking forward to seeing it again.
This is 1980 Countach LP400 S Series II number 1121228. Low body. Freshly restored in Verde Albete with golden Bravo wheels. Also known as the “Sauber Countach”, fitted with a Vortech-supercharger and ANSA F1 sport exhaust, and two Jota air scoops on the roof. More info & pictures at my www.countach-register.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
I wasn’t aware that any Series II cars came with Bravo wheels. We’re these added during the restoration?
Yes, they were added, this car has non-original wheels, a changed livery, a custom engine cover and a non-factory supercharged engine configuration. It's important to make the distinction for the uninitiated. Verde Abete metallizzato was in fact used on an LP400S S2 1121124 as shown in the May 1980 issue of Modern Motor magazine, which has now been restored in Australia to that color in correct hue, as shown below in images originally posted in this thread by Leo S. Only the LP400S S1s were built with Bravo wheels, but replicas have been made and as you can see on this page any number of LP400S, LP500S and even some QVs are wearing them. A Lowbody in Bianco/Bianco is a beautiful thing. So Bianco/Bianco > Nero/Rosso before the current livery?
It was very dark blue, looked like black on the pictures. The former owner had some limited pictures when white, I can remember he showed me one when the car was on a trailer for the repaint to dark blue.
