In better days. I used to see this Countach casually parked all over London, day and night, the latter usually outside Stringfellows. Image Unavailable, Please Login
From the Guikas Collection #1121296 for sale, it has engine 1121198 - I'm wondering which engine is in Chassis #1121198... If this "specialist" was Karl Ruf then I could think of an engine swap, since 1121198 was supercharged by Karl Ruf. Between the two cars is a difference of 6 month of consignment dates. 1981 Lamborghini Countach LP400 S by Bertone | The Guikas Collection | RM Sotheby's (rmsothebys.com)
On Sunday the 15th of August, the Countach had his own category in the Peeble Beach concour d’elegance To my knowledge there were: LP400 chassis nr 1 in green LP400 in yellow LP400 in purple (2 cars) LP400S in green 5000s in black QV in bordeaux chianti met QV in red Anniversary in silver The winner was the LP400S, the yellow LP400 came second and the red QV came third In my opinion this is the right order (I don’t judge the quality of those specific cars, simply because I was not there). The LP400S is the best version of all Countach The chassis is better built. The engine is rock solid, never have any overheating issue (I know of few QV with overheating issues). It’s the first model with wide tires Cinturato P7, with the configuration we all know from the poster. It’s the original design that we all admire The car is lighter then 5000S, QV and Anniversary. And so few cars made 237 cars in three versions The best of the best is the S1 in my opinion. So few made (50 cars) with the wonderful Bravo wheels. La crème de la crème of the S1 are the first 20 cars or so, with SW gauges and other small details, that makes it very special Long life to Countach! To win a competition where you are up against the holy grail Chassis Nr 1, it takes really a lot! Congratulations to the owner of the LP400S best of all the versions! Congratulations to the LP400S! Ii is for sure a super nice car. All the right elements ,if you like, of the Countach came together. Color, stance, rarity , although the Purple Lp400 is a strong competitor imho.reg QV with overheating issus. There must be something really wrong. I live in One of the hottest places on earth where you will find a Countach. Never had an over heating issue.
Your view is your opinion and you are entitled to that. I'm sure everyone will have their view on the models which appeal to them and factors that influence that opinion. The main aspect is that it was a big number of cars with many models repersented, along with their own class at PB. Congrats to the winner, a fine example for sure. All of this bodes very well for the future of the (original) Countach! R
All Countachs are great and a "best" case can be made for any of the sequential models. It may be a little disconcerting for you to find that the world does not seem to agree with you.

001 was not in any competition, it was simply a display car. Great meeting you Ken! Awesome! Rob (Spyder-Man) were you there??
I missed these pearls of inaccuracy. The chassis of the LP400S is not better built than that of the later LP500S, QV and 25th, that's simply untrue, as we all know, as production went along, they improved chassis, brakes, suspension and in fact all components throughout the car, so the later the variant, the better built and more reliable the cars are, chassis included. Of course you'd have to have actually owned LP400 > LP400S > LP500S > QV > 25th as I and a few others have to actually know this and develop and unbiased view. The QV engines are not prone to overheating, that notion is inaccurate, as with all Countachs, it simply depends on the individual car's maintenance or lack thereof, that said in my not inconsiderable experience, if pushed really hard, a 4 liter engine will overheat well before a 5 liter will.
Alas no Joe, It was all a last but minute by the UK club to organise this and a lot of people had already made other arrangements. My understanding is that it was Silverstone's suggestion for the parade lap and from feedback from some who were there. It was a 45 min queue to get on track for 1 lap at very slow speeds. I'm not impressed by the UK Lambo club. They have really dropped the ball on the 50th. It's not like anyone knew it was coming huh? They have a large list of all the Countach owners in the UK but nothing seems to have been organised by the club for the 50th. They had 7 cars on track which matches the number I managed to get on Rockingham in 2016 at a Countach Lunch event. I'm disappointed. Others had reached out to me, including friends from Europe to ask if I was going to organise a bash. Maybe I should have! R Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Please feel free to contact me if you’re looking for a tool kit. It’s very consistent with a 5000S kit. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
