Indeed I know 1192 is not an S3 and S2 means Lowbody, my vague recollection from a lengthy and highly entertaining phone call I had with Mal many years ago (during which he did not have the car's chassis number available) was that it sounded like he owned an S3, but now we know it's an S2 Lowbody, checking the factory records, it's July the 4th 1980 delivery date corroborates this, meanwhile from other photos I've seen it does look like an S2 Lowbody to me. Nope, I wasn't confusing Mal with Melvyn Farrar, just making the same mistake everyone naturally makes by reffing to the name "Mel" exactly as I wrote it down in my notes from that phone call all those years ago, but I'm happy to accept and note that Mel is really Mal! Jamie I recall Mal detailing a dizzying array of American muscle cars that he had come to own, he loved all things USA as the sticker on the back panel of his Countach shows, how cool is it that the car was delivered on July the 4th, American Independence Day? Only Mal could have arranged that.
I have a question for all the owners who detail their own Countach’s How the hell do you clean the windshield on the inside? I spent an hour this morning laboring I had some type of film or contamination that kept getting in the glass. I work one area, moved to another and cantaminated the first. Anyone have any tips other than seeking professional help for the glass and my mind
I have the car listed as Bleu Acapulco with senape interior, delivered on 27 June 1980 to Achilli. On the pictures that Jamie sended the interior looks more like cream or white even. Was the interior perhaps changed once?
I've thought the same thing. Seemingly easy but not satisfactory results. I'm going to try this out. This video shows a few steps, like using a magic eraser (or rubbing alcohol with a towel), that might help & that I have not done. Glass cleaner alone is not working on several of my cars.
He did indeed Joe, it was his passion. I'd say in the UK he has been the top classic car and in particular American classics for the last 50 years or so. Looking back through the way back machine website to his website shows just how many have passed through. We still have a Corvette Stingray ZR2, A Split Window Stingray, An El Camino and a Stutz Blackhawk to sort as well. Everytime I visited his workshop there was a new car and he knew everything about them and the history of the car. Infact the Split Window Stingray had the number plate USA 111! Typical Mal. His old scrap merchants used to have Elvis Pressley gates in the mining town of Orgreave and I know he has Marilyn Monroe and Elvis memorabilia
I'm not too sure on that one. When we finally look through the box of documents i'll try and find out. I'm due to take some more pictures on Monday as we are moving the cars back to the workshop.
I see. Your 2011 post here regarding Miura #4256 where you refer to the then current owner as Mel F, not Mal B confuses too. You must have been referring to Mel Farrar then and not Mal Bishop who has owned #4256 from the mid '90s.
If it helps you, the Bleu Metallizzato 2.463.643 with July the 4th 1980 delivery date I have in my archives was cross-referenced with that of Valentino Balboni's, that's what we both have. I spoke to both Mal B and Mel F and separately at different times, see my last comment in the Miura thread, meanwhile let's keep Miura chat in the Miura thread.
I had an Esprit Turbo with a similarly raked screen - very susceptible to the slightest film buggering the view out. I used warm water and dishwashing detergent with a surgical sponge (any lint-free cloth will do). Then several passes with a very wet clean cloth with just plain warm water to remove the detergent, then dry off with a paper towel.

Speaking of LP400, 1120220 brought just $898,000 as a high bid this despite a $300,000 plus restoration, another result underscoring what I have been saying in recent times about the trajectory of this variant's value relative to other variants such as the Downdraft. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Friends - I am looking to acquire an original, unrestored shift knob in superb condition. If you have one or know where I can find one, please message me, Much appreciated. Image Unavailable, Please Login
LP500S CLA12515, MOTOR magazine world's fastest car in 1983, our first-ever Lamborghini which I owned from 1987 to 1989 when I traded up for a Downdraft is still looking good all these years later. Image Unavailable, Please Login
