1120022 was converted into an LP400S (black) and existed this way for many years. Brought back to LP400 guise in silver with tan. Now green. Has unusual Miura-style (or cut Countach) seats. Sorry Alberto Id really have to dig to find them. But they look like Miura seats to me, although they might simply be Countach seats which have been modified, I really don't know. I was told (completely unsubstantiated by me) by a previous owner of the car that the first owner was heavy-set and had the seats made this way. If you look at the image of the car in its second (2nd) guise when silver, you can just about get an impression of the lower backrests of the seats in similar disposition to those in a Miura. For me they look not like Miura seats but cut Countach seats. The Miura seats have a different shape around the knee section. IMO they simply cut the headrest. Why would they do that? IMO Countach seats looks much better, this solution looks uncomfortable to me.
Hello! I bought the car in 2000 in the black "S" disguise and I "restored" it back to the silver "Periscopa" look. I drove and enjoied it for some years until I tried to go sideways. The result was a scratched front wing and I sold the car to Gino at Ross AB who fixed the wing and had it repainted green. I for sure can tell you that the seats, which by the way are very comfortable, are no Miura seats but cut down Countach ditos. When the cut down was made is a question that I can't answer for sure but it was very professionally made and I would believe that it was made by the factory probably when the car got the aluminum wing extension and the Bravo wheels. I sold the "S" kit to Japan. Anyone knows what happened to it? There is a new LP400 in my garage, # 142. Regards Lel
Now that we can see good images - definitely chopped Countach seats. I think the Miura seats confusion comes from the pleating of the inserts, which has been done Miura-style, rather than Countach style.
1120202 when owned by Walter Wolf Swiss-registered "TG 100 322" Raymond where is "TG"? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thurgau, north-east of switzerland, near Konstanz/Kreuzlingen/Bregenz don't know the english name of Bodensee. Capital of Thurgau is Frauenfeld, hear the lake shore http://map.search.ch/romanshorn Later it was registred BL = Baselland, countryside of Basel. http://map.search.ch/basel I think I even know the owner of these TG-plates
Walter told me he had them made, but he did not provide me with any images. He said the reason he cast 16s in favor of 15s was to accommodate the special Lockheed brakes (as opposed to the ATEs) that he was using. I have been able to verify a lot of what Walter told me, by speaking directly to the man who did the work, Gian Paolo Dallara.
seems like if the replacement lockheed were too big for the 15's and that if that wold car was equipped with those calipers, wouldnt be safe to assume the the bravos on that car were 16's? which wolf car came with the racing lockheads? red, blue or the dark CT?
It wouldn't be safe to assume anything. Wolf was constantly changing the specification of his Countachs on an ongoing basis, and I have seen photographic proof of this in 1120006, 1120148, 1120202 & 1121002. According to Wolf, 1121002 (Wolf Formula One Racing Blue) was the car equipped with Lockheed brakes at some point during his ownership. I didnt even assume Wolf's 30-year-old recounting was spot-on, even though Gian Paolo Dallara verified his assertions.
Greetings to all; might anybody have an image of a Countach V12 Twin Turbo mock-up engine officially shown at Geneva Motorshow, in 1979? Many thanks, david
