I do not know, but one thing I do KNOW. Years ago when I first started in to the Lamborghini's, I bought TWO Red Countach cars. One was a LP400 low body S-1 and one was a low body S-3 car. Of course at the time I had NO Idea they were s-1 to s-3 cars and of course had no idea of their true Value. I can tell you the S-3 had the same Stereo set-up in it as well and was a one owner car. If I recall correctly the Stereo was by Panasonic. Not thinking anything of it AND being told by expert, (that is was not orginal) I removed it and sold the car, the unit, Stereo was thrown in the trash. The S-1, also advised by the same expert was sold at a price I was assured was high for the current market and was urged to take it. The buyer was a friend of the person giving me advise to sell the car at that price. I did let the car go. In a failry short time, the buyer of that car, truly knowing what it was worth, as well as the expert in my hindsight thoughts, sold the car for almost double..and never looked back. Needless to say, I now rely on other expert opinions that are not involved in the sale of any vehicle...I would recomend this to others to alway get an un-baised, un-involved opinion. NEVER setle for what a person INVOLVED in the sale is telling you...NEVER.
Front wing/bumpers (ie. Cannonball car) can definately keep their front wings imo. I don't even mind their flat rail rear bumper. This would be the only exemption.
Roy, if i remember well you had two red series 1 LP400S cars the S3 is an hi body car p.s. a pity you trashed the stereo...expert was right, it was not correct for a S1 but an interesting option for later models countach (1982 and on i think) i would have bought the stereo
there are a couple things about S1 cars values that must be said -their value went up in a significative way few years ago (as in 2005-6 they were worth as much as a 5000S in Europe) -they are specialist cars, you need to find the passionate guy that really wants an S1 and only an S1 to get the most $$ to many they are just like all the others post LP400 cars...and they would not pay a big premium for them p.s. what happened to the other one? sold in an auction?
an other pic of that S3 car interior pic of the regular radio place i do not write the VIN down did you Alex? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Not thinking anything of it AND being told by expert, (that is was not orginal) I removed it and sold the car, the unit, Stereo was thrown in the trash. These Panasonic roof-mounted units are worth a lot of $$$! Don't ever throw them away, since they are desired by Lotus Esprit collectors also. They were factory stock on the early Esprit Turbos and all the Essex Turbos!! And as we know, they were also used on some Countachs and other cars.
Victor you are right the roof-mounted units! And I know for a fact that Romano Bernadoni at Emilianauto SpA gave the factory a few units to install in new Countachs to be supplied through his dealership, and they installed them at the end of the assembly line. One of such cars (an early QV) is pictured in Pasini's Countach book, a Pearl White car with a blue-and-white interior.
Unless I am looking at the wrong picture this is not a S3 car. Look at the console. Maybe its been butchered?
I would change the bumpers but NOT repaint the four fenders just cause of the lights. If the paint is excellent I would not touch it. The bumpers really kill the look IMO.
Joe, it is still in an italian shop? i have seen it in a recent meet in Italy...looked pretty good! repainted (see red sills ) and restored LP400S car Image Unavailable, Please Login
