Kirk M's lovely LP400... Joe www.joesackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's #1120026, and is pictured in almost every Lamborghini book you can buy here in Europe. I read on the ILR that the car was originally Arancio= orange, but now is being restored in classic yellow/brown. Kindest regards, Marcel
Here's another picture of the car. I think the color is "Rame Colorado", but please correct me if I'm wrong Shah of Persia, chassis#? This car is not on the ILR yet... Joe might be more interested in the white Miura with the strange rims, but I'm sure you know all about these cars...chassis#? Ciao! Marcel Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Miura is the Shah's sister Princess Ashrafs 's P400S. Originally white now with replacement rims. Featured in the December 1975 edition of National Geographic in an article on the Shah. The Countach is not Rame Colorado. It is Rosso Granada, a car that was given to the Shah's son as a graduation present (thanks dad). Yes it is already on the Regstry. The chassis number is 1120190. There's a ridiculous amount of rumor / hoopla concerning the use of this vehicle. I won't divulge publicly on the forum, because I still enjoy traveling to Iran to visit family and friends, but it isn't pretty or innocent to say the least....It's probably mostly rumor at this point, and nobody will admit to its truth or not, but the car was used for some "interesting" errands to say the least, according to those who were there and witnessed it...
All true Im sure ;-) I owned the ex-Shah of Iran Miura SV 4870, and I did a ton of research including talking to a man now resident in the USA who helped look after these very cars in Teheran..... youre right, best not discussed here. You can PM me any thoughts if you feel like it but Ive probably heard them before... Joe www.joesackey.com
Me either, and considering whatever you're talking about regarding the Shah had to have happened 30+ years ago why not share? These types of "behind the scenes" stories are fascinating!
Sorry for the late reply guys, I'm going to try to uncover some info for John/Joe on the blue car, I'd rather not post a bunch of stuff that might be untrue...lots of things happened, lots of different interesting characters had access to these vehicles, that's basically the synopsis. With some help, I'll have some "concrete" info in a few weeks, no sense in posting a bunch of BS untrue rumors. My grandfather had a good business relationship with then ambassador to the U.S. Ardeshir Zahedi and that's my main source of info at this moment. regards, amir
Also guys, remember Amir still has freinds & family in Iran, a country where 'freedom of speech' is not as free as one might hope, and some material might obviosly be 'sensitive' for public posting.... The Rosso Granada LP400 is I beleive a remanufacture of a very early LP400 by the factory especially for Farah Diba (the Shah's wife) so that she could give it to her son Reza Pahlavi. The Rosso Granada was chosen to match the Shah's Miura SVJ. It remains in increibly original condition havng been inspected in Teheran by a freind of mine. I also beleive that the Shah's SV and SVJ (both Miuras) were considered government property. Somebody 'authorized' their release ;-) Joe www.joesackey

Thanks Bruno. We can see the infamous 1120204 (yellow) complete with non-original wing and mirrors. The blue car is 1120256 if memory serves, and of course the lovely "Champagne" car is the one-and-only 1120176. Joe www.joesackey.com
Just to build on what you said Joe, The Islamic Republic overthrew the monarchy (no need for a history lesson here, everybody knows what went down), so if you call Iran trying to snoop around for info about a car or other personal items belonging to the Shah, you're either going to be met with long faces or smug arrogance. People don't volunteer info that can get them in deep trouble that easily. Farah's LP400 is located at the car museum outside of Tehran in the village of Karaj, the I.R. has the Shah's cars on display there as "items purchased by Mohammed Reza Pahlavi with money stolen from the Iranian people," you can interpret that however you see fit. I can't really make any claims as to the originality of the vehicle, but because there is almost zero interest in maintaining the vehicles to be in driving condition, it's all there, just "languishing". As for the SV and SVJ leaving Iran, along with Maseratis, a Ferrari Boxer, the Bugatti Vanvooren and a host of other vehicles...well-placed bribes can take you quite a distance in Iran, whether you want to buy a nice stereo for your house, or a Lamborghini, it's all about whose palms you have to ice.
