I love fabric seat inserts in an LP400, 1120200 used to have them also, sadly not repeated in the recent restoration.
Today, the cars generally receive much more appreciation and care than they did 30-plus years ago, and this image underscores that. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Add this to the list of F1 drivers experiencing a Countach. Here is Jonathan Palmer behind the wheel of Frankie J.Bradley's Countach S S1 1121100, on the old Goodwood track circa in a test for MOTOR magazine. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The worst abomination of that kind was done on LP400 #1120024, here seen at Achilli Motors in Milano... Countach 5000 SS was not enough... Prototipo Stradale! Per favore! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, one of the Mardikian cars featured in the magazine article was 1120262, note there are two cars in the article. For clarification the Spazzapan car labelled 500 SS now in California is 120188, the car Victor posted badged 5000 SS in the Achili Motors showroom is 1120024.
Mardikian Countach's were always easily confused. The red S Spyder in Road Test - July 1980 magazine is LP400 #1120134. The other one in the article is the factory-special LP400 S #1121058 Rosso Granada. LP400 #1120262 was RHD when owned by Rod Stewart. I found 3 more LP400 modified "S" by Mardikian (Trend Imports) & Giacobone (Executive Coachcraft). They were working together. Two of them Black-Black: #1120104 & #1120152, and one White-Beige (which is currently for sale, so I won't disclose its VIN). Every last one of these unfortunate cars deserves a return to its original LP400 status, if only as a nod of respect to the cars' original makers.
Geneva 1979, indeed. #1121024 was built October 6th 1978 and consigned October 20th 1978 to Hubert Hahne for a Dr. Eichner. Seems quite far from the Auto Show in March 1979... But the next and only other candidate is #1121044... consigned May 17th 1979 (I don't know the built date though). Sounds even less probable! I have a German magazine Sport Auto from August 1979 showing what I really think is #1121024, still wearing EE plates. 1978 - 1979 were terrible years for the Lamborghini factory... everything is possible. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised about #1121024 to be the Geneva show car 1979. Also, I read the Countach S could not be registered in Germany until Summer 1979. Clues... clues... How true. The P300 in the foreground of Joe's pic is 20562. It is RHD and was the last Urraco to be consigned on 15/06/79...
Neither would I, in fact, if so, it would not be the only Countach presented at the Geneva Salon whilst being privately-owned.
wonderful insight LC666... so 4 factory build ct cars with the early round flares plus a prototype P118 this early muletto featured looks wonderfully clean and piercing without the front spoiler and rear wing. silvera's car at one time had the same look,lue- black flares, no fr spoiler or rear wing with updated bronze tecnomagesio bravos and it was stunning! i notices it has been repainted once again to the delivery blue-gold scheme with the those rare p mirrors. Late time i saw 1120188 in the flesh the rear wing is mounted differently than the early photo of yours. many thanks for posting! hf
Jumblatt still has it but it's not Kamal nor Walid it's a distant cousin of theirs. The red countach was imported by my friend's father who owned the port during the war. He used to race in his countach ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you for your input, Serge! Then it's certainly Nassib Joumblatt you are mentioning. I got his name for the first owner of LP400S chassis #1121008. However, I really doubt he owns it anymore, as that poor car was already exported to the USA in the 1980s... and is still there in a "terrible turbo tuning" condition. I would be curious to know which Countach does he have now...? Unless you're talking about another Joumblatt faimily member who owns a Countach too! So far, I counted 6 Countach delivered new directly to Lebanon between 1974 and 1980. Chassis #1120040, 1120060, 1120088, 1120090, 1120182 & 1121008 #1120060 is the only one of the above-mentioned Countachs for which I have no recent data! Here it is, being road-tested for a German magazine, early 1975: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This came up for sale in Canada. I don't know if its a real ad or if someone put up a fake one. But, OMG look at that collection.... http://m.autotrader.ca/a/19_10429701
I don't know if the Countach is in Canada. The pictures look like the car was originally in the middle east. The Countach is a fuelie with a euro body??? It looks like a complete conversion. The car looks incredible. Maybe the leather is all new as well?
