    Interesting again.

Many years ago, Lamborghini Club America President Jim Kaminski told me a story about CLA12507 as related to him by Jas Rarewala's partner, Trefor Thomas, both of ACI (Automotive Compliance Inc). He said, upon it's first 1982 delivery into the USA, after some PR photography work & testing done in the USA, the car was sent back to Sant Agata for some prescribed USA-mandated components. He says, the car was not returned to ACI for almost a year. In support of Kaminski's story, the car appears in the Pete Lyons book in both it's first (1982) and second (1983) USA DOT-bumpered guise.

Could it possibly be that after development of the USA DOT components over the course of several long months, CLA12507 was used for the 1983 Geneva Salon (held March 10th - 20th of that year) before being returned to Rarewala with USA DOT components circa May 1983 along with the second car CLA12587?

Here it is when UK-registered ELN 283 Y, imaged here @ Castle Combe, you can see the Tobacco leather interior, the paint was in fact more of a Beige or Champagne color

Thank you so much for that, I think I have seen other period images of that car, the plates ring a bell.
It is amazing how a paint change makes it feel as though you've spawned a new car!

Indeed the current color and the fact that it is now wingless give this car a completely different feel

Would this mean that #1120064 left the factory in Blue?

Yes, John. 1120064 was indeed Blu Metallizzato - Tabacco. I have a photo of that LP400 when it was in London, owned by a Saudi Royal during the 70s.
Later during the 80s it was repainted black and went to Germany. Then to Italy in the 90s or early 00s.
And now the car is restored again to its original look.

Yes, quite different, the LP400 is Blu Metallizzato and our former S1 is Blu Tahiti.

Of course these images were taken in different lighting conditions etc so they wont be an exact representation, but you get the idea

There were 3 kinds of "standard blue" for the LP400:
    Blu Metallizzato = medium blue,
Blu Notte (Metallizzato) = "night blue", darker blue but not as dark as the true "Dark Blue" shade,
Blu Thaiti (Metallizzato) = as bright as the medium blue but with a drop of green, like the sea color near exotic islands (hence Thaiti, obviously).

The LP400 on the photo that Joe posted is 1120140, in fact "Blu Notte".
Depending on the exposure, it is sometimes difficult to identify the correct shade of blue, especially on older photos!

Here are some more examples, 3 of each, with different lighting conditions, in that order:
    3x Blu Met.
    3x Blu Notte
    3x Blu Thaiti

FWIW 1120140 had been repainted at the time that image was taken

i think we have gone through this before: you cant rely on photo's of any sort to ID or match colors. not only are perimeters of the camera settings along with lighting are important but the environment of surroundings reflect light off your object plays a huge role.

blue is especially hard replicate accurately in the past since there are tones the camera can not capture. i used to work at an ad agency as an intern and used non-photo blue for advert layouts.

I can vouch for the difficulty of matching blu.
This photo is from 2004, if I recall, prior to paint.

Extremely nice a Countach with Bravo wheels, my favorite for some reason that is a very rare sight, I developped a fixation on those when I was a teenager, perhaps they are hypnotic?! All that is missing is a glamorous leggy blonde in matching blue dress in the passenger seat then head for the Alps and Portofino:)
This is a low roof right? Does anybody know the height difference between low and higher?

    Best regards,

    Marc
