Hi As far as i can tell, as long as we are allowed to have petrol engined cars on the road Pirelli will hopefully maintain their Collezione Range, and this tyre will be part of it. They do some times go out of stock for brief periods, which has been made worse by the unpredictability that Coroney has brought. I have also been very cautious about what batch sizes i ask for. We don't want to accidentally end up old stock, which could easily happen if they made too bigger batch.
I meant to reply to this last week - hopefully there is no such thing as a 'final' batch' and the tires will continue to be made as long as people drive their Countachs. Tracking owner demographics, I can say that as time goes on, the cars are being acquired by more active owners and are being used more than in the past, so it looks likely that there will always be a demand for the new P7.
All good news. Just hope there would not be a 12yr break. Which I think was the interval last time with the P-Zero.
I hope to avoid a 12 year break, but these occasional brakes are all about trying to keep batches fresh.
I think the gaps in PZero production were more like 5 years IIRC. However, moving forward I don't think we need to worry too much about production gaps, the point has been made and the maker themselves has apparently seen the value in supporting a modern incarnation of their ultimate heritage tire as underscored here https://www.fondazionepirelli.org/en/activities/stories-from-world-of-pirelli/the-pirelli-p7-the-cinturato-from-track-to-road-is-back/ and here https://www.cinturato.net/pirelli-cinturato-p7.html I understand that the knowledge that the maker supports the tire they need is actually encouraging people to drive more often. and that is a truly great film. They made a film about Motley Cru a bit ago where the drummer of my favourite band at the time died in a car crash with one of the band in a DeTomato Pantooney I carefully studied the film to check they had the right tyres and they couldn’t even be bothered to use the right car!
Mine were fitted a month ago when I got the car. Glad they still make them. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
They look great. There are plenty more where they came from. Also i beleive the US distributor should be getting a delivery any day now https://www.lucasclassictires.com/Lamborghini-Countach-tires_c269.htm
Got a set from Lucas tires- they look better and handle better than the P zero’s - well worth the cost.
Just wondering what the feedback is from Countach owners that installed a set of the P7’s on their cars. I am thinking about taking off my only few years old Pzeros. Do the P7’s change any of the road feel, softer compound? I’m sure Joe will tell us what he thinks of these new tires. I do drive my QV at least once a week, and would love to know if they make a difference over the zeros.
I bought a set of P7 as soon as they where available, always felt the pZero s where to stiff and harsh for the delicate suspension on the Countach, and yes i was absolutely right, the p7 s rounded shoulders and poss more relaxed manners just makes the Countach soo much better in all types of driving,
The P-7’s look better and drive better than the P zeros- liked them so much, put a set on the Jalpa too!
My comments in this thread say it all, of course this only applies to those who really use their cars.
What do we know about accurate fitment and tyre pressures for a Jalpa. I will build a web page for in here https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/lamborghini.html I havent done Jalpa yet. detail about model changes relating to tyre sizes is good. any detail about tyre poressures is good. and pictures just make the page look better.
Have i shown you our new web page on Countach Tyre pressure? https://www.longstone.com/lamborghini-countach-tire-pressures Please let me know if you see any mistakes.
Note the typo on the front tires 205/50/15 not 205/80/15. God an 80 aspect ratio on the front tire for a Countach, pointed towards the moon and beyond.
