Simple yet very critical to the Countach design. Where do you stand and why?

If you’re a Countach lover you’ve undoubtedly discussed and debated this question a multitude of times. If you’re like me, you sometimes love the wing and sometimes you don’t (though, I’m usually a fan) Where do you stand and why?

  2. The trend is no wing. Many wings have become a pain, with bubbling and corrosion, due to the aluminum wrapped foam core - it absorbs water. If your one of the lucky ones with a perfect or near perfect wing, then I would keep it. Ideally I would have 2 deck lids.

The poster I had as a teenager had a wing, so I'd have to have one.

I went no wing on mine because everyone else had it including all my friends' cars.. now everyone is taking it off so i may have to add it.

On my anni I think it finish off the aesthetics but on other Barrientos they look better without.

If I’m successful in my search to find the right Countach I’d prefer the wing. That’s what I fell in love with when I was 13 and that’s what I ideally will have. But, I won’t turn up my nose to one without it.

    No wing.

It's a useless appendage, a boy-racer supplementary fitment that only serves to add weight and slow the car down, and given that Countachs are there to go very fast, that's not a good thing.

Also, it compromises what little rearward visibility one has.

Bear in mind these 2 important facts:

    * The wing was never aerodynamically wind-tunnel tested.

    * The wing was never officially Homologated for use by the Lamborghini factory on it's Countach models, and was therefore unofficial application.

    Think Less Is More.

  9. Remember the Countach has the aerodynamics of a barn door. The wing has been noted to add stability at high speed (at the expense of a few miles per hour top end license busting speed). It does little to hurt rear visibility, that was never a strong point in any Countach. Boy racer, haha, in a wedge shaped scissor door with flares and the widest production rear tire (at the time) car? It was never designed to be your dad's Oldsmobile.

When I was younger, the wing was a must have. Now that I'm older (but still don't have a Countach :( ), I mostly prefer sans wing.

However, it actually depends on the model - LP400 & Anniversario = no wing. All the rest = with wing.

I don’t dispute any of facts regarding aerodynamics (or lack thereof), drag, stability, top speed, etc. In fact, I’m certain all these negative impacts are true. For me, however, it’s purely an aesthetic choice, as I’m sure it is for anyone that likes it. The damn thing just looks cool. It’s what I loved as a youv teen and I still think it’s awesome. Having said that, if a car came without one from the factory I would never add one. I’m too much of a purist.

    A countach without a wing???

    That’s like

    Superman without a cape...

Wonder Woman in a tube top...

    Trump without the cranial embellishment...

    Testarossa without strakes...

Porsche 911 turbo without the whale tail...

    The sun without the shine...

    Agreed.

No question it's hugely popular, and it does make a statement.

But as the years roll by and the cars age, the reasons I mentioned above besides, I actually think some Countachs just look so much better without a wing

Well, one nice thing about having a car with a wing - you can always remove it, as Harry has showed us.

The rear wing will always be cool, if not an actual performance enhancer.. it draws your eye Up, which fools your mind into thinking the car is even lower than it actually is.

    No wing.

Exception being an early moody adjustable wing with no side plates(LP400S). Pretty damn incredible.

No wing. Destroys the original design. There are less conspicuous ways of getting downforce than bolting a surfboard to the rear of the car. That was an easy way out. Just my opinion. :)

Emphatically no wing for me, but I understand why people like them simply from a nostalgia standpoint.

    Wing all the way . . .

My QV is all 80’s supercar. The more outrageous the better.

Saying that, no wing looks good as well. Be like Harry, put it on when you feel like it, take it off when you feel like it.

Wing - My car was born with a wing, therefore the wing stays.

The wing might be as practical as tits on a bull.
However I would not recommend altering the bull by removing them, especially while he awake.
