Agreed, what I wanted to see with some full images of the unit was if it was correct-for-period for an LP500S which is equally important IMO, and it is.

It looks to be an original unit from the era when the car was made, and it certainly is correct-for-period for an LP500S variant.

That said, strictly speaking, OEM doesn't apply with Countach wings as the units were manufactured on a sublet basis and installed outside of the factory building because of transportation homologation and type-approval mandates.

A review of this thread helps somewhat.

Basically, if you like the wing, by all means keep it on, on the other hand, if you're not fond of it or are looking for reasons to take it off, there are multiple.

Yes they were manufactured and (afaik) mounted outside too, but it was a factory option back than. Same with the SE30 Jota kit years later. Factory option but not installed at the factory.

Does anyone have any idea who manufactured the wings?

    My 2 cents:
It looks indeed to be an OEM 1983 5000S period rear wing.
If you can share the VIN of your Countach, there's a tiny chance I'd be able to give you even better precisions...

    OK, that's a very late 1982 5000S.
I've been trying to find the exact period the rear wing changed from adjustable to fixed type, and I know it was sometimes around February 1983.
At the moment, there's no way I can prove CLA12548 got this rear wing from new, but if it did from the factory, it could have been the adjustable wing type... CLA12555 for instance, was built just after and still carries the older adjustable wing... or the new type as well, like CLA12556 and further cars.
CLA12548, was delivered mid January 1983. Personally, I would leave the rear wing as it is definitely period correct and would not take the risk to remove a probable-indeed original part from new!

Remember, many Countachs received wings in the months and even years after production.

It looks like it had the round slot hole into the aluminum bracket to become the adjustable version, they quit making the adjustable version, the wing spoiler was designed to add a down force air pressure to rear wheels for more traction at Super High Speeds ! Did you further take the cover panels off the pedestal stands ?
