Countach Wiper Switch

Has anyone had one apart or have a diagram of how one is assembled? While repairing the signal light switch, the wiper stalk/switch was removed. Given there are about 3 parts to the assembly, one would think it would be a straightforward re-assembly. It is...mostly. The wire spring is causing me fits. I can't figure out how it should be installed. I'm presuming it sits in a position where the stalk is resting against it and provides spring-back when the stalk is moved to the single wipe position. I'm also presuming that the direction for this action would be down? Again, I'm making the presumption that from rest, up one position is normal speed wipe and up two positions is high speed wipe. Can someone confirm this? Car is a 5000S 2-valve, if that makes a difference.
