This thread is for people who are looking forward to the return of Formula 1 Racing to the United States in 2012. I went out to the track Sunday, after attending an F1 Singapore watching party in downtown Austin. It's too bad that you can't see more from outside the gates. The pics dont do justice to the elevation changes, as is typical of pictures, video etc. I'm looking forward to seeing this thing come together!
When are tickets going to be sold? THAT'S the time to start getting excited . Even if the November extension is (or becomes) official, we better consider those tickets a donation since it might not be ready... but I want to be the first to buy them . MotoGP already announced no race at COTA in 2012, hence my guarded optimism about F1. Good day folks.
I'm ready to buy tickets! I hope it happens. I bet Kim $100 it wouldn't happen. I hope I lose that bet.
I visited when I delivered a car for a client there a few months ago...the changes in altitude of the track are HUGE!!! I can't wait to see the race... See you guys next year. Go Big like everything else you do in TX. MB
I just signed up for information. It would be great if the Red cars win the world championship at the USGP!
I'm definitely looking forward to the race aswell as an Fchat get together. I should start looking for a hotel room now as close to the track as possible although I do have friends who live on the westside of town but any help would be greatly appreciated. For those who signed up for info I hope you can let us know when tickets go onsale. Gregg
Lets start thinking out loud about what sort of Fchat get together event fits in the framework of a grand prix weekend. What day/night? What type of venue?
Good call Randy and I agree in that there are needs/wants that must be looked at so we have alot of happy campers. Is it too early to start whoring for rides lol!!?!?!?
If I get a basket for my bike, you can certainly have a ride, just like E.T. Yes, if possible, I plan on huffing it down there to avoid the traffic. I'm sure Bubba will give me a spot at his place to lock it up.
Just an idea but maybe we could/should unofficially start discussions, hell it would burn some time and I would really enjoy helping out in any way possible if yall have me? Gregg ps that was for Volare/Ferrari rides but I'm 5'11 and 210lbs just so you get a big enough basket lol!!
Well, Thursday is the Broken Spoke. Continental Club for Friday and Saturday. We'll have to confirm the artists, a little closer to the event. Jesse Dayton Haybale Alvin Crow John X Reed Two Hoots and a Holler The usual suspects!
Ditto to that. Because there isn't one. There is one at the airport which seem to host layovers. And you want to experience a bit of Austin too.
I sent them an email inquiry for tickets and haven't even gotten any sort of response for over a month. I would think they would be more aggressive in trying to keep people who are interested in the loop. I'm not saying they are ready to sell tickets but you would think some kind of email response that "we got your inquiry" or an update now and then would be appropriate. I still get several emails a year from Singapore telling me what's going on. I asked them for tickets a year in advance also. So, someone needs to step up the PR activities.

That side of it has been a little 'weak', IMO only.... BIGTEX Thats an understatement. Marketing overdue and short on details. Plus all the other events we have been told will occur that weekend in the US. They need help. I have zero faith right now and I want to attend in the future. Also 1 of Bernie's issue with Indy was the promotion of the race. Its very expensive when done well of course.
