I'm going to put an order for F430 spider but I'm not quite sure. What is driving comfort w/o the roof ? There is a possibility to use wind deflector ? What's you opinion ?
Bottom Line - How often will you drive with top down? With top down, most say it "looks" better, but it "weighs" more. I bought a coupe because I would have had to pay a great deal more over MSRP compared to a coupe and I seldom drive with the top down. Looks are in the eye of the beholder. In any event - enjoy whatever car you buy.
go for the spider.. i recently drove both and i can tell you that they are both great cars.. but still it is alot of fun to drive with the top down on the 430.. go for it
it really depends lol, do normally drive the covertable with top down or a converatble with the top up (i know a lot of ppl bought the spider because of the open air, other than that they say the coupe is much better). to me i like the spider cause of looks but coupe would be more practical. also coupe is better because i at least know 2 ppl had their roofs sliced open to steal something so you might want to consider that too (to replace roof is about 20,000 CAN parts and labor)
I now favor coups over spiders for the following reasons; 1) a coup is more synonomous with true ferrari racing spirit, that's why the CS versions come in coups; a spider is more akin to glamour, soak up the sun, messy hair 2) in a coup, you can be a bit more discrete, with attention largely on the car; in a spider, your head is in a fish tank observatory, meaning zero privacy 3) a planned outing in a coup is rarely put on hold if it might rain; the reverse applies to planned outings in spiders because spiders are supposed to have their tops down to be fun -- and this becomes significant because most owners have a hard time putting miles on their cars 4) slashed tops and sun bleached upholstry are part of the spider experience, not so for coups
Many thanks for the corvette, but quality of the interior is ... I heard some opinion that there are some problems with water inside during rainy days. On the other hand, here in Europe waiting time for spider is 5-6 months and near two years for coupe.
I own a Z-06, just placed my 360 ( picture attached) for sale, and have ordered a 430 coupe. I have been an endurance motor car racer (wheel to wheel) for 20 years, and driven Porsche's, Ferrari's, Corvettes, and everything in between. For those who like to drive, there is no better "hot rod" than the Z-06. The ergonomics are fine and the interior is not the most expensive but very nice. I have my name on a list for the next one ("blue devil") with over 600hp and supposedly to weight less than 3000lbs. I was on a freeway yesterday next to a Porsche Turbo with a license plate that read "560+ HP". He decided to race and we had clear road ahead. Although he got the jump on me, the distance quickly faded at around 140 mph. If you want to impress a certain "class" of people then buy a Ferrari or Lamborghni (both are great drives). Like there is no substitute for a Porsche, there is no better status symbol than a F or L, for sports enthusiasts. However, if someone hits the door of my $70,000 Z-06 I can buy three more for what a 430 costs. Do any of you own Z-06's? Be interesting to hear your view. Not important where you are going, just how you get there!! Enjoy.
You took the words right out of my mouth!! Buy the coup(berlinetta??) any day of the week and twice on Sunday's
My Porsche 997 and 360 are both topless. And I live in Chicago. I just think nothing beats a top-down drive. I feelthe open raod is part of the sportscar experience. I see where coupe seem popular here. In the US the wait is far longer and the premium much higher on Spyders. Coupes are better at the track, but if you want to track, get a racer.
In my opinion, the spider is the way to go unless you want to track the car. Tracks are very nervous about convertibles, though some are coming around and allowing the 360 and 430 roll hoops. In spite of the hassle from track registrations, I track my spider and very much enjoy it. I've tracked it with the top up as well, but not quite as exhilarating. For street use, I drive my 360 spider with the top down whenever the weather is nice. The A/C in these cars is good enough, and the roof easy enough to close, that if it is too hot out, the top goes up. I love the flexibility. Remember, Enzo raced a topless car in his younger days. Come to think of it, F1 cars are still topless ;-) Lou
How come you're asking now about either a spyder or a coupe. When the time comes to put the order down is becuase your turn came up on the list and that list is either for a spyder or a coupe either F1 or manual shifter configuration. The only thing you can do now is spec the options on the model you chosed. If you want to switch from a spyder into a coupe then you will have to wait again on the other list and thats an if. Thats the way here in the States, I hope Europe is different and you can choose without any more waiting.
