Ok, it's highly personal, but I fell in love with convertibles since I had my first, an MX5 years ago and currently have a Z4M (m3 engine) roadster which is good fun (almost as powerful as 360).

Been looking at 360 spiders but found a very tasty coupe. Just concerned I'll "miss out" on the convertible option if I have a coupe as having the windows down isn't the same thing.

Has anyone had both? Can you tell any speed/noise difference (with roof up obviously) between the two - i.e. does the coupe have any advantages over the spider other than the fact it looks better and weighs less?

I like that fact that the coupe (in my case 430) you can hide from starers to some extent.
The soft top you can't at all with the roof down and besides when its up it doesn't look all that much chop IMHO.
The Tubi sound is somewhat insulated in the hardtop and I suppose a traditional Ferrari car should be enclosed.

    Either way a great choice.

It sounds like the spider is for you.

Again, sounds like the spider is for you.

Have not owned both, but I have a 360 coupe, have experience riding in spider, and own several convertibles in the past. The 360 spider has canvas top, so it will be noisier (good and bad) and it has more parts that can fail, but driving with the top down is an awesome experience.

You can check out the video review:
Quote from the show: "What can be better than driving a Ferrari, how about driving a Ferrari convertible".

Simple -- it does 99.9 of what a coupe does but a coupe can never put it's top down on a nice day.

All the points above are valid in addition to where do you live? you might be able to use the spider with the top down in some states (or countries) more than others. Also, you might want to consider the stick instead of the paddle shift.

For me, being in San Diego CA - Spider is the choice since we are paying the weather tax already :)

    Best of Luck.

Try both....;) Buy the nice coupe you are looking at, enjoy it. When you find a nice spider, sell the coupe.

Spider. Of course I am biased... I just personally think the lines on the spider with top down are stunning.

Maintenance wise there are a few things easier in the coupe version...

You run the track, buy a coup - like running in the mountains with the top down - get a spider

My preference is the Spider obviously, and I think you will like it. I put the top down on mine about 75% of the time I drive it. With the fall weather coming up, I'm sure it will be 100% until it gets too cold. Bling spots are pretty bad, but that could be the same for the coupe, but I can't confirm that.

I'm in the desert and only raise the top weekly to keep it in good operating condition. I NEVER DRIVE WITH THE TOP UP, EVEN IN THE SUMMER! Good luck.

    I agree

99 of 100 days you will drive it will be in sun I assume why not have the option. Is it your only sportscar? It needs to have the drop top imho

If you live in the desert where you can't drive with the top down but 1/3rd the time then I would possibly change my vote.

I had a soft top before getting into a coupe. You really can't lose either way.

Hardtop has less rattle, more rigidity, more privacy and will have no problem on tracks.

Soft top is kind of adventurous, kind of have your cake and eat it too type of thing. Nothing like a nice top down drive with sun and wind in your hair. Little to sacrifice in terms of performance.

If you always had a soft top, why not try a coupe? I did.. If you ever miss a top down drive, get another soft top for fun later.

I've had great fun with my 308 GTS; when it's time to upgrade a 360 spider will be on the short list.
