Finally got a chance to do some cleaning/restoration on the engine and have a few surprises. First one is this little red plug on the lower right side of the engine bay. Tried a search, came up with zip. It has 4 female plugs.

Then I found this rattling around in the intake. When I say intake im talking about the big rectangle 'dish' at the rear of the engine compartment.....nothing internal.

Red plug looks aftermarket, the spring looks like it belongs on a fastener. This is my thoughts I hope it helps.

Greetings hope all is well. Ok. Picture one The red plug is for the cat ecu. There should be a green one as well next to it. If you have cats then there should be a small ecu there and it shoild be plugged in so if your cats overheat hou woll get proper warning. It may have been a problem and instead of replacing the ecu they just unpluged. They are known to be flakey. If you have no cats there is nothing to worry about. The second picture. Beats me. Maybe for throttle linkage or adjustment screw. Sometimes they use a spring to keep tension on a adjustment screw.

Thanks guys. Yup, there was a green plug hiding behind the sidewall. No ECU and yes I have cats (California). I just ignore it for now until I find an ECU or evict the cats.

The spring goes in the spare parts bin.

Tomorrows "To Do" list, front hood shocks and engine bonnet foam fabrication.

*Edit* Found the ECU's behind the panel once I took the 2 bolts off. Plugged them back in, lets see what happens.
