My Gallardo's Weathershield car cover is letting rain through the fabric - not just on seams but all over the place. It is only 2 years old and is only used outside occasionally. I've followed the washing instructions precisely (no hot wash, no bleach etc).

Has anyone else had this problem with a Weathershield cover? Here's a pic to give you an idea of the type of cover.

I've emailed Covercraft re a warranty claim but I'm interested if others have had this happen to their Weathershield cover.

When it rains my cover also has water underneath, but it is not as much as what the rain provided on its own. It certainly isn't completely dry. To my knowledge they behave this way when they are new as well. I've had two with the same behavior.

Mine worked fine when new. Not much point in having an all weather cover that won't keep rain out. Covercraft responded quickly to my email, but I'm going to try washing and drying the cover again before I sent back. Apparently the heat of the dryer can help seal the waterproofing. Fingers crossed.

I dont like the idea of using a cover in the rain, my car is always garaged, and if i take it out on a day with rain i just dont put the cover on.

No matter how good a cover is, i just dont like the idea of putting it on the car in the rain for one main reason being that when i put it in the car its wet.

Fair enough, but my point is the product is advertised as waterproof and it isn't.

yes, I have never actually put mine on in the rain so i cant comment, it was just a comment about principle?

surely, unless its 1 piece with no stitching there is always a risk of water getting through?

i was told by a couple car cover companies (and after talking to another guy who stores one of his cars outside) that NO COVER will guard 100% against rain ......and water proof doesn't mean water will never touch the cars paint after a good rain storm.
no such cover exists and you shouldn't be using it expecting it to be like a perfect cacoon.

i have a cover craft for one of my other cars and have used it in the rain.....and yes....the paint got wet but i expected that....it was better than a simple cotton car cover and better than nothing of course

i think Covercrafts are excellent fit, durable and great for the money

i think you need to build a garage

    I purchased a Covercraft Weathershield for a MB 380sl.

It rolls water off without problem and keeps the car dry in the rain. The probem I have with the cover is fit. It is too loose and will fly off with a medium wind. I've tightened it with a rope through the grommets under the car but it still comes loose. At least now I don't have to worry about the top going down the street.

Thanks for your input guys. It isn't a major issue as the car is garaged and the cover is only used occasionally. However, you don't expect a cover guaranteed as water repellant to become waterlogged after a light shower. It was fine when new - the water used to run off like it was mercury.

I'll try it again when it rains again - that could be quite a while though.

Yeah, it rained and the car is completely wet under the cover. The brand new cover on the Mazda worked better, but it too allows water to seep through. I'm sending 'em both back.

Don't buy Weathershield from Covercraft if you expect to keep your car dry!
