No he can`t he missed the auction. We missed it then we where at Monaco too.But we made a tripp to a museum outside Nice with a 6C Maserati. Do you know something about that car? Kaus 3500 at that auction it looked awful out inside. Best regards, Magnus
hello! they've put up the results on their site now: http://www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot_list.php?id=80 That A6 certainly was popular, over 300.000 euros! cheers, Kimm S
Of the Maserati's listed, the '65 Sebring surprised me the most. Nearly 75k Euro. Just 4 years ago I was about to purchase a far superior example which was owned by the owner of Continental in Hillsdale for $44k.
Just prior to the auction, I was contacted by an Italian collector who corresponds with me on a semi-regular basis. He offered me 300,000 Euros for my A6-1500GT 3C, s/n 086. I politely told him the car was not for sale as I have told him on other occasions as well. Just after the Coys sale he told me the car there (s/n 108) was sold for a world record price that with commissions exceeded 350,000 Euros. ($449,000 at time of sale.) He has now raised the offer on my car to 400,000 Euros. Despite this considerably high offer, I still have no interest in the sale of my car at this time. From my records and notes on the 61 examples completed, I believe there to be currently less than 12 complete, running and driving examples and another 12 or so that could eventually be restored to running driving status if the unique and non-unique parts could be found. (Very rare and hard to come by.) Does anyone know what the asking price on the Jan b. Luehn car in Germany is or if it has been sold? This is chassis 068 and the details on Jan's sight can be found here: http://www.janluehn.com/stock/27/stock.html If there is enough interest, at some point I would like to start a specific thread on the A6-1500s and possibly a separate section on my own private web site. I have been gathering detailed information for approximately 15 years on all of the cars but there are huge gaps in most of this histories and almost no information on about half the cars built. Warm regards, Bill Noon
Bill, s/n #068 is in need of a total restoration. I have the complete history of the car. Ciao! Walter
Many thanks Walter, I am not a buyer but am often asked for assistance by the few lost souls who seem to take a liking to these early Maseratis. Any notes you could post or share on the car's history would be warmly welcomed. I am still hoping someday, somehow, someone might be able to source me a period photo of my own Maserati. It lived for most of the Winter and well into the Summer of 1950 in the 13th District in Paris in front of and around the corner from Hotel Baltimore in the 13th district in Paris. (Just down the street from the Arch d'Triumph.) Isabella Quaranttoti Ippolito, the original owner took it back to Positano in the early Fall of 1950 and Maserati sold it to a second Italian owner later that Fall. It stayed in Italy until early 1957, when Ernie Nanson from Chula Vista, California purchased her and shipped her to the States. Original Color was Gray. Any help or thoughts on who might have a photo would be greatly appreciated. (The car was formally entered and accepted at Le Mans in 1950 but never made the race due in part to either non-payment of the final entry fee or lack of a qualified driver and co-driver or possibly both. I have the original letters and acceptance from le Mans organizers. It is sad, as it would have been the very first Maserati to ever race at Le Mans.) Warm regards, Bill Noon
nice meeting you Bill.. Ill post some pics of the Luhn car.. Is it sold by the way? Nik Hannah Sweden
Hi Nik, The pleasure was all mine. Thank you for bidding on my ebay brochure. I hope it finds its way to you when the sale ends. I had a ton a rare Maserati stuff and had started posting a few bits and pieces to ebay. One client bought a few pieces then asked to purchase directly a fair percentage of my production items. I have a few left and will be getting them up on ebay as time allows. Good luck on the restoration, Bill Noon
