    Hello. Looking at a new to me, low mileage 2015 F12 and wondering if I should spend for the CPO (power train, not bummer to bumper). Apparently Ferrari are doing. “2 for 1”, so 2 yr for the cost of 1 yr at $6200 (or there about).

    worth it? Skip it? I haven’t been able to do a ton of research on the F12, so not knowledgeable on any systemic or known mechanical problems.

    BTW, I’d be trading in from a 2018 Performante, so feel free to talk me in or out of the swap!

    My view of the New Power warranty is that it is poor value for money as there are too many exclusions and reasons to decline cover.
    Barring the engine(and I haven't seen a single thread about engine failure), the single biggest failure item you are likely to have on the F12 is DCT gearbox. The chance of a failure is low and the cost of a rebuild runs to about $7-9k. So you can see that even if the rebuild was a certainty in the 2 year period of the NP warranty, you'd be almost square if you self insured. Factor in the less that 100% chance of a rebuild and you have your answer.

    The greatest benefit of self insuring is that you don't have the aggravation of trying to get Ferrari to cover a failure. Which is made worse by paying for the repair knowing that you already paid through the nose for a useless warranty.

    Known mechanical issues on the F12 are cam cover gasket leaks (not covered by warranty), water/oil pump leaks (not covered by warranty) and DCT seal leaks (not covered by warranty). Cosmetic issues include bubbling paint around the rear mesh vents and water ingress in the tailgate.

    Decline the warranty and you're already $6.2k ahead on the costs of rectifying the above if they appear.

    Get all that checked out and you should be good to go. The fact that they are willing to put the NP warranty on it tells you that it should be a good car. If pads/discs are too worn etc, they can't CPO it (ask them for a disc and pad wear reading). And make sure that the tyres are new Michelin MPS4S. The original tyres will be too old by now.

    Thanks for the information!

    The gasket leaks and DCT seal leaks that you mention...at around what mileage do they show up? Is it more evident at higher mileage, say 10k+ miles? For those that owned the cars new, or within the original 3 yr bumper to bumper warranty, did these issues show up under the warranty period?

    And it’s very odd that such leaks aren’t included under an extended powertrain warranty (likely specified as exclusions).

    Unfortunately they did put brand new tires on the car, but they were the Pirellis.

    That's a good price, I paid $7,700 for the two years. I did it mostly because I knew I would drive it a lot. It's obviously a gamble in many ways, but I got them to cover two things early on.

    The F12 block itself is solid, per the techs. ANOpax is right that the biggest risk is DCT, stateside I've heard more like $12-16k for a rebuild.

    +1 on the MPS4S, I put a fresh set on within a few weeks (replacing stock Michelin SS K1) and they are superb.

    personally i would get the Ferrari warranty. there are no deductibles and it is as close to factory warranty as you can get.
    price wise it's good for 2 years since you are getting 1 extra year
    i've owned my F12 for 1 year and have already spent around 3k in misc minor repairs that would have been covered under this warranty. torque bolts loose on spline shaft. chasing down hot start electrical problems.

    I have owned both - F12 is sublime but Perf much quicker in real world, much louder and nimble. You need both !

    Sorry to take issue with this comment but the NP warranty is nowhere near the quality of the factory warranty. The only way to get the benefits of the factory warranty for more than 3 years is to extend for another year or two once the 3 years are up. After 5 years, it’s NP warranty only. Looking at the age of the car which the OP is considering, we’re clearly talking about the NP warranty here.
