Try looking at your local fabric shop.
The brown I got for the seats on the boat was real close in looks to the black on the dash of the Mondial

I've bought miles of vynel but vinyl was called Naugahyde in the previous century and bought from Auto Upholstery places. It is bought by the yard and 54" wide and in more colors and patterns than you ever imagined.

Not a big job DIY as long as no sewing is needed in which case the upholsterer's labor is needed.

Were I to do my dash I would buy another cow hyde and dye it myself. Did that when I did the ceiling and package shelf. Hydes cost about $450.

In order to re-cover the dash it needs to come out. Sorry but on your car this means taking out the windshield. You can find vinyl that is an exact match however it will be aged at a different rate than the rest of the dash so you are left covering the dash and the insturment pod which involves stitching to do it right. It is a bottomless pit I know. Depending on how bad the crack or rip is, do not rule out one of those mobile repair services. Depending on the guy the work can actually be quite good and act as a good temporary repair before taking on the bear of a job I pointed out. Good luck with it.

+1 There's an upholsterer "on call" to nearby Classic Coach who works miracles with vinyl and leather repair.

Guess you can remove the windshield if you want to but according to others, dash removal is "super easy" by removing the instruments and 5 bolts - 2 at door jam and 1 at relay panel.

This was being discussed just the other day and I had made the same assumption, however another Fchatter who has a GTB said the unlike the GTS that the winshield has to be removed. As far as the replacement material, you can get the authentic material at World Upolstery: http://www.worlduph.com/itvnl.htm and then either recover yourself or have a local upolstery shop do it for you.
