They both look well done. As long as the person that finishes them doesn't try to masquerade as something he's not he's fine.

I have yet to see a V8 fiero put up better times than even a stock Corvette C5. You can build a much faster Fiero using a V6 or even a 4 cylinder engine for much cheaper than a V8 conversion not to mention run better times.

He builds nice body kits I will totally admit to that. Have you seen his Perfect union body kit?

Not bad but extremely expensive to do. You could buy a real used 355 for the same price. And again have a better performer ;)

I figure it has to be something you would do yourself to make it worthwhile. Then again, the first service on a 355 might cost as much as the donor Fiero! LOL

I wouldn't mind doing a kit Testarossa, but in the end it wouldn't end up looking like a Testarossa. I drew up a Mid-engined Corvette idea with hips like a TR but a reversed '58-'62 style cove instead of the strakes, and I figure a TR replica might be a good place to start.

Ah well, yet another project idea...

Actually it's much cheaper to find a used Fiero or MR2 these days for a kitcar build than a months worth of service done at a Ferrari dealership.

I've seen my share of Testarossa Replica's

It was a nice car and the owner had an LT1 swap from V8 archie and guess what happened after 6 months of being on the road? :D

seen some pretty good-looking TR replicas. Probably wouldn't fool most people here, but they still looked good.

Certainly agree that a "better" fiero can be made using engines other than the SBC's typically used. At least if using the standard fiero trans, which doesn't seem like a very good idea unless you're staying with the 60-degree V6 engines in which case it would make sense. If a V8 is needed, the northstar drivetrain seems like a good alternative (too bad there isn't a manual option for those), but the BMW V8 is another engine which has been successfully transplanted (that guy did use the fiero trans though...). Myself I'm looking at other alternatives.

The Fiero 5-speed is actually a fairly hearty trans.

BMW V8, eh... never seen one of those in a Fiero.

There's really no options when it comes to Fiero trannys unless you've got the money for a Porsche Trans and then were talking big bucks.

If thats the case people should get a spaceframe than a Fiero chassis.

The 6-speed out of a G6 is a popular swap (I think I got that right).

I have played with the idea of putting a 2JZ in a Fiero but I don't know if it will fit. If an LT1 can fit in there I don't see why that can't :D

That an the NSX transaxle has become a good weapon of choice for high performance for the Fiero's big motor swaps.

I didn't know they made one. Cool.
Somehow an ersatz Porsche bothers me less than a fake Ferrari.

The Porsche guys also seem to br much more into diversafication.

I was close to ordering one of these. I'll still get one at the right time.

Yes the Becks are the same company as in the '80's and '90's, even better. I just finished a 550 spider and yes the Porsche guys are much more open to good replica's. Look at www.beckspeedster.com. Just got back from the Carlisle foreign car show and several replica makers had booths there including Special Edition (Beck maker).
They will build you a turnkey-minus 904 for about $60k plus your 911 motor and G50 tranny. So about $75k total and it will blow away newer 911's.

Those of you who know me know that I generally disapprove of the 288GTO-style body panels that attach to genuine Ferrari 308's.

But why doesn't anybody make a fiberglass kit that would replace most of the metal on the steel-bodied 308's with 308 panels - just in fiberglass? With the original fiberglass cars in high demand, the advantages of less weight, and - arguably - the justification that the kit would return the 308 to the state that "Enzo originally intended," who would object besides the owners of the few original 'glass cars left in existence?
