He'll be lucky if he gets $10,000 for it. Not even full Tube chassis Diablo's with V8's and Porsche TransAxles go for that these days let alone a Nonstretched kit. ;)

Okay, you're right. I wish I had one of those, because it would cost less to maintain, out accelerate and out handle my 308, and it looks very identical to a real Berlinetta Boxer.

How I wish that I had bought one of those instead. :(

And - oh, yes - it would turn more heads, plus it's more valuable by virtue of being rarer.

I wonder why Ferrari even bothers to make cars at all, when anyone can buy a kit, build a better car that looks very identical, performs better, and is more valuable even though it costs less. Maybe it's just to supply badges.

That Kelmark needs more door/wheel opening c-molding in random places. That should REALLY class it up!!!

That Kelmark GT is a respectable kit car, and when done well, is faster and handles better than a genuine Dino. While there may be some insignificant details that are different, it looks very identical and most people can't tell the difference. Furthermore, there were far, far more Dinos manufactured than Kelmarks, so Kelmarks are much more valuable than the real Dino. A real Dino owner would be embarrassed because a Dino was only faster than a stock Volkswagen in top speed, and the Kelmark would undoubtedly turn more heads, which can be definitively proven on a drag strip.

Look back to post 2892, as well as this quote, to see what I was referring to:

I'm a member here because I own a Ferrari 308 GTB, which I absolutely love.

The post you are referring to was a sarcastic response to V1SkullAngel's relentless assertions that a Fiero (!) is vastly superior to a Ferrari in every way. (See previous page.)

A far better question would be: Why the he11 is V1SkullAngel a member here? He's the one who is bashing Ferrari in all seriousness, not me.

    Sorry. . . thought you'd get it.

I never made the Fiero to be out to be better than Ferrari. How would that even be possible when Pontiac is dead? 0_o

I'm saying based on Experience I can tell you that the Fiero is indeed a worthy challenger to any REAL Ferrari 308 except in the aspect of Top Speed. Same with the MR2 and countless other cars.

It looks like it has been styled by someone who has never seen a Ferrari F40. I can't pick out a single feature that is reminiscent of it... unless you count that it has four wheels. :p

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I understand the fun one can have in building his own car, but why not spend the extra time to fully design your own shape? Then you could truly say you built a car with your own hands and wouldn't piss off people with real exotics.

    I'm with you!

I have a neighbor who owns an MR2 with a rare body kit that he tells me is only available in Japan. (He bought it when he lived there and had the car imported.) The quality is good, and the car does not resemble, nor is it meant to replicate, any other car.

It looks very good. Nearly everyone who sees it for the first time asks, "What kind of car is that?"

That is what a body kit should be, IMO: The fun of building one's own car, but a unique shape that isn't trying to copy another design.

My impression of the Camaro/Firebird above is that it's okay as far as a kit for that particular car that doesn't look like anything else. As for being an "F40," it doesn't even come close. There is no justification for calling it a "Ferrari," or badging it as such.

The kit on the Toyota Celica above looks so bad that it's funny.

I think it's a 3000GT. Always parked at the Crystal Mall in Waterford, CT. Poor quality photo from my ipod, I'll try to get some close-ups with a real camera. What is the motivation for this? Flash ride or is it someone who really likes Ferraris but finds them out of reach? Although it's not clear in the photo, the chrome Ferrari lettering on the back appears to be about 3" high.

Gee, the 3000 GT is just fine for what it is. Why bother with Ferrari lettering and logo? I doubt that anyone is fooled.

The 3000GT wasn't a bad car, when I was 5 or so I spotted a red one and confused it for a Ferrari, funny though a few days later I saw my first real Ferrari out in the wild ....an F40 :)
