Todd as requested here are the pics of my 308. I am taking to McCabes Automotive in Mundelein Monday after the Italian car show. Stop By to witness the destructive power of an 83 year old women's Buick verses Ferrari when she drives thru a stop sign!@#$%^&

arrp or the hartford is handling the claim. they have accepted full responsibilty. this claim is a no brainer to handle. McCabe is not a cod shop. I feel that a specialist should work on these kind of cars and McCabe is highly regarded in this kind of work i have been told.

Hey! just a quick post to let you know that will work out.

My car was 'T' boned from the RH side and the hit was a little further forward than yours. A new door and some 1/4 panel repair.

Best of luck, sorry it happened...but it does!

I showed my car also b4 it got repaired..great for conversation, you can tell the truth or make up some awesome racing incident!

"Yea, I thought Mario was commited to the high line, but then he came down and closed the door on me...."

sorry to read about the damage, as Speedy said if it had hit the door frame it would be much worse. the damage you have is not too bad and should not be too hard to repair in terms of affecting the structure and service life of the car. i hope it all goes smoothly for you!

    Wow,Dan. Bummer! Fortunately,it doesn't look TOOO Bad. But,ANY Crash on a Ferrari,especially your own,is devastating,I'm sure. :(

(Did you ever see the www.wreckedexotics.com site? Interesting, especially for a Ferrari Driving Insurance Man. Check it out. I signed up and they send new photos every Month. Sad. Very Sad...:( )

Something about Old Ladies in Big Cars....I was once hit by one, also in her 80's,driving a big Mercury Grand Marquis. I was in a 1995 Corvette, sitting at a Stop sign on a side street. She was turning Left, and turned Right into the front end of my car, and, even though I was in "Drive",she pushed my car back about 20 feet. $12K in visible Damage.

These Old guys buy their Wive's Big Ass Cars to try to protect them, but, unfortunately, the Ladies usually cannot handle such big cars and do more damage than if they were driving a more managable car. Oughta be a Law....

In fact, given that the population is getting older and living longer, geriatric drivers can be a real hazard on our roads.

Thank you everybody for the encouragement. I was sick about it but no one was hurt. The car can and will be fixed. I have not have had an accident in years I guess I was due. What is really great about being a Ferrari owner in the short time I have been is the fellowship and great common bond I have felt thru the chat and events such as the pranching horse event etc. Harley owners have their group and us Ferrari owners have ours.

Sorry to hear about this Dan. What was her approximate speed on impact?
The spot that she hit you is a very sensitive area. The left hand fuel tank is behind that panel.

And Dan, don't forget to go for 'diminished value' (or whatever it's called) compensation.

Looks to me like your car needs a new rear quarter. If that can't be found, it's gonna be a lot of Bondo involved, and that ain't good for value.

Ouch.... Well, you just have to think, it could have been worse... But even getting a ding on these cars are bad, or even a rock chip...

Did your door get any damage, it's hard to tell by the pictures. Even though they will have to paint the entire side of the car to get the color to blend correctly.

As for Bondo, aren't these car full of bondo anyways from the factory ??? I hear that the metal stampings are rough and they need to smooth them out with bondo before they get painted????

The car may have damage history now, but i think that damage is just superficial, just sheet metal and no frame or structural damage which is good.... Just a ding there... ;) But of course if it was my car, there would have been another dent, me pushing that lady's head into it.. HAH!

The lady hit me at about 5 to 10 mph because she just stopped and then accelerated into me. I think the fuel tank is ok. It does not leak, YET! Yes i will get the proper value on the car, count on it! I have to put my trust in Skip of McCabe's automotive in the repairs. He was referred by Giovanni of Autosprint. He does lots of these cars. He has the Ferrari colors in stock and if it needs the quarter panel or what ever I'm sure it will be done right. My door got scuffed not dented but the bumper of the buick hit the right wheel and marked it up. I'm more worried about internal damage to the mechancial's. Skip asked me if i notice any vibration I said no. I have had it on the highway up to 110 and it was smooth as silk. Skip said he will look into it all and make it as good as new.

They were smoothed out with a glaze putty type filler, rather than bondo.

    It's okay really. Italian tradition...

The last time I went for diminished value the guy said, "in twenty five years time we assume the car has been involved in some kind of incident."

He wouldn't play, but did throw in money to replace "custom graphics"

So I sold my daughter's colored handprints for $500. She'll redo 'em for that! LOL

there is no reason to use "bondo" body filler there , in excess. the panel can be cut out and the metal replaced and the edges filled with quality METAL filler. not "bondo". i am sure the body shop guys will handle it properly for you!

No doubt. The Social security Administration says that the Populus of Senior Citizens will TRIPLE by in the years to come. (All of the "Baby Boomers" getting old,all at once....:( ) Better get 'em all Golf Carts. Me? I'll get a Segway. Paint it Red,and put a Scuderia Ferrari Shield on it,when I get there....:)

Also. Dan. I've seen worse dents Pulled out,and repaired with Minimal Bondo. (My StepFather owned an Auto Repair and Body Shop.) I once had a 1968 Plymouth Fury III That had a big dent in the exact same spot as yours. I was 17,and took it to my High School Auto Shop class, and promptly filled it in with Bondo. I took it over to the Old Man's shop to show him. He Promptly hit it once with a Rubber mallet, and the whole chunk popped out! He then pulled it out with a Dent puller, almost perfect. But,we did have to use a little bit,(About 1/10th) of the Original amount of Bondo that I put in, to finish the repair..:)

    Looks great!
It's best to drive these cars with a mindset that no one can see you. Kind of like when you ride a motorcycle. I can't stand drivers that don't pay attention.

The repair looks great, happy motoring!

It's always safer to assume that the people near you on the road don't have a clue as to whether you're there or how to drive. All of my bikes have straight pipes, so they usually hear me, and I think that's fine. Loud pipes save lives!
