    Dude.....WTF???

So sorry for this.....a donor car would be hard to find, unless maybe a fire job from the rear.......everyone else goes in head first too, over driving the brakes!

T Rutland or GT Car parts in AZ....

I hope your insurance was paid up......

Good luck finding any used replacement parts for a 328. They are getting VERY scarce. It took me 6 months to find a useable rear bumper for a customers 328 that was involved in a minor rear ender.

No offence..but it looks like there is far more damage then a front clip. I noticed in the picture that the passenger door is buckled up and in..and it appears that both side windows are smashed. This indicates to me serious structure damage. Before spending a large amount of money have a good body shop look over the car completely, just to be sure the car is even safe to return to the road. Being that the frame is tubular..they are not the easiest to repair. Before jumping in and spending big dollars, look further into the car to see if it is a safe car to repair.

They were never plentiful to begin with ......you'd better go back to driving a Camaro and start the learning curve again.........

Yes, but still less than 50% the price if buying from an American dealer.

Sorry, I had to laugh at that one. Maybe you should consider starting over and parting out this one to pay for it, seeing as how parts are becoming scarcer and pricier.

    Kirk,
I have an 89 GTB, too. In 1997 I got into wreck with an 87 GTS, but it was not nearly as bad as yours. No structural damage, I was able to drive the car home. Still the estimate was about 19K with a new clip. I eventually got it repaired for about 10K because I was able to get a new fender left over from another car wreck. If I remember right, clips were about 10K and there was a 6 month wait to get it from Italy.

I'm no expert either, but this car looks like a complete loss. It looks like the firewall has been pushed into the cockpit and the wheels into the firewall not to mention destroyed suspension. Even if you repair it, it is likely never to be the same and little problems will likely keep cropping up due to the severity of the impact. I would think you would be better off taking the settlement and selling it for parts. If you do, let me know. I may be interested in buying the carcass myself in case of future needs.

BTW, what is the VIN#? I have been keeping a registry of GTB's.

    Best of luck,
    Dave

Hardtop, Do you know how many 328 GTB's were produced ? I have decided this will be my first Fcar, but I heard they are getting more and more scarce. Would like to get a 88 or 89. Is they any difference in the two?

Even with current exchange rates? If that’s true, OUCH! So, with the falling dollar, stock up on the items you need now. Six months to a year it'll be worse.

Ferrari UK has a stack of clips, but the bits will break the bank on this one.....

I mean, I have a guy that can weld two cars together, but unless you can get a engine fire "burn out" like stevemaman was scrapping, it ain't gonna work.

Agree that frame will never be the same, but someone COULD get it to guage out probably.....Roland's high dollar F40LM job barely made sense.......

    A 328? No way.

Kirk, I forgot to ask... What'd you hit?!

I'm dying to ask how this happened but I'll refrain. :)
Was it the GTS you hit?

Dave: "Boy your GTS looks pretty bad..."
GTS: "Yea, I don't know what I'm gonna do about it."
Dave: "Huh. Mine's not as bad as yours."
GTS: "I guess not... my wife's gonna kill me."
Dave: "Yea. Hey look, it would be a shame if both of our cars got written off."
GTS: "You really think mines written off?"
Dave: "Oh, yea. You'd better get what you can out of it."
    GTS: "I guess you're right..."
Dave: "I am. And I have my check book right here. Lookie! I have a pen too! How much you want for that front fender there... and how about that?"
    GTS: "This here?"
Dave: "No, that upright lying over there. That looks like it's good... if you take those mangled A-arms off."

    I'm just kidding you Dave...

    Then again.... :)

I agree that this is going to be expensive to fix. Even to the point where economically it becomes questionable to proceed. That's why I'd skip the original parts route and go with a front clip from either of the two sources I posted. All fibreglass front clip, racing style won't be very expensive and you can use your bucks to fix the more important parts underneath including the frame.

I think I'd use that one to convert an S into a B and sell off the remains. I always liked the B's.

    Rob,

Even with a further decrease of 30% to the British Pound (which is what many are predicting - I priced the dollar at $1.91 to the Pound) and if the U.S. Ferrari Parts distributors don't raise their prices in accordance with the falling dollar (I'm sure they won't...) with the price difference on the link above it would still be cheaper to get the parts from Ferrari UK!!! That's just crazy.

You'd be dumb not to get your parts from them.

Kirk, sorry on the loss. It is your car? I have known Dave for a while and would lean towards his opinion. You may do better starting with something else. You certainly could do well parting this out. Interior bits and things like tailights and engine could certainly cover a large percentage of another car.

Keep us informed of your progress. If you do part it out, I am sure there would be a line of Ferrari Chat folks to take some of the parts off your hands.

But, I will keep an eye out for a rear damaged car or a clip, just in case you continue.
