You may not want to watch if you race these things. It's that nuts.

So i guess as with the yellow 360 the gas tank is in the front of the 355.

Both drivers lived! Apparently the driver of the Ferrari sued the track for failing to have a firecrew and won.

I saw this yesterday - absolutely unbelievable! There is a whole thread on the Racing forum devoted to this.

    Gene,

Thanks for posting this. I viewed this multiple times and if you watch it closely you will see that the Ferrari burned but it's fuel tank didn't catch fire. The Porsche does and apparently the fuel from the Porsche fuel tank (which is in front) ruptured. I can't imagine why they would let a car like this run without a fuel cell. It is almost too hard to believe these cars caught fire the way they did - but seeing is believing.

that is just horrific - it kinda disturbed me to see the sideline guy with the extinguisher not help pull the Porsche driver from his car (twrd the end).

That God they both lived. That accident was horrific. If I did not see part two I would never have thought they lived.

    Awful accident.

Anyone who races may be interested in this:

I have a connection at a company located here on L.I. that has developed a product that can be placed in gas tanks (they look like small Brillo pads). This stuff can prevent fuel explosions just like this one. It dissapates heat so quickly that instead of a huge explosion, you get a candle effect - even when the tank is compromised. It is light weight, and only takes up a few % of the volume of any tank.

An example: a 50 gallon drum filled with high octane fuel and shot with an incindiary bullett does not explode, only a small flame emits from the entry and exit holes.

Police departments are alreading putting this into the tanks of their cruisers - spawned by those horrible highway rear-end tank explosions.

Check it out - there are demo videos

PM me for any additional info / contact info.

I agree - and I hope we move in that direction.

I will inquire about the cost. From what I understand you can use OEM tanks....they just cut an access hole and patch.

Cost of the Suppress - a few hundred to low $1,000 range, depending on the volume - plus the cost of removing, draining and re-installing the tank - probably best done for F-cars by a certified F-car mechanic. Would have to be a joint effort, I guess.

Shutting up, Sir. I'll bring samples on the 11th. Sam, maybe we can line the back half of your Mondi with them.
