Some time ago, one of the biggest German newspapers, the Frankfurter Rundschau, received a package with information about 120,000 credit card customers, including names, addresses, and even PIN numbers. A huge outcry went through the country, and now the whole affair has been cleared up - with a very bizarre ending:
It turns out that the original package for the Frankfurter Rundschau contained a tasty Christstollen (special kind of christmas cake).
Two employees of the courier service handling the package identified its contents as such, opened it and ate the cake. To cover their misdoing, they took another package, one out of 6 which were intended for a state bank, and placed the address label of the cake package on it, hoping that no one would notice that the bank would only receive 5 and not 6 packages.
You see where this is going - the package contained loads of confidential data, and when the newspaper received it, the confusion and rage was infinite... all because two postal workers were hungry! :D
