    With regard to the 328 vs 308 debate - most people have preferences for aspects of both cars. In my case I like the bigger motor of the 328 but prefer the 308 bumper look. I also prefer the interior of the 308.

    In the same vain as 911's, where people backdate the impact bumper cars to look like pre-73's;

    Is it possible to backdate a 328 to look like a 308?

    A crazy idea - but how feasible is it?

    Maybe put your 328 motor in a 308?

    I actually liked the 360 motor that somebody put in a 308 the best, I saw the pic on here last summer sometime.

    Given the only thing you want from the 328 is the motor it would seem to be more a case of dropping a 328 motor into a 308. If it won't fit straight in I can't imagine that much would have to be done in the way of "adjustment".

    Actually, it's kind of the opposite -- the U.S.-spec 308 has the federal 5 mph rubber impact bumpers; 328 was restyled by Pininfarina after the U.S. law was relaxed to 2 mph.

    More often people paint 308 bumpers to try to blend them in, but the result looks tragically bad.

    With regard to your proposal, I wouldn't bother. You'll have a mongrel Ferrari, which devalues the car, and it won't be all that fast. (The U.S. 328 is usually quoted at 6.0 sec 0-60, which is now VW GTI territory, and the 308 is a little heavier to start.)

    If you like the 308, I would just buy one. They're great cars in their own right.

    Is there that much of difference between the 308QV motor and a 328 motor? I thought that the only difference was the displacement increase.

    If you are looking for a couple more horses out of the 308 QV I think from a cost perspective you are better off buying a 308 and putting some Webers or an electronic fuel injection system on there. A 328 commands a $10k-$20k premium over a comparable 308, whereas these systems can be had for $4-$7k. Plus when it comes time to sell I would much rather be trying to sell a stock looking 308 with some performance upgrades compared to a cut up 328. With those upgrades, some car dieting and you would be coming pretty close to a 1:10 hp to weight ratio....which is not too shabby.

    I like how you are thinking outside the box. I was schooled with old 911s, and a stock 911 was pretty much just a blank canvas.

    Or, if you want a bit more engine, buy a 512BB. ;)

    I don't think for driving around on the street the bigger motor means that much. If you want lots more speed & power, get a different car than a 328 or a 308, but you can't beat the looks of these. It's not always about having the fastest car. Plenty people will walk right past a ZO6 Vette and go straight over to a Ferrari. Exotic car with exotic looks.

    Yes, crazy idea :) Get a 308 and install a supercharger kit or independent throttle bodies with E.F.I.~engine management.

    Okay, it's as feasible as your wallet allows.
