Because my father and me did !
The story is that I went by train from France to Münich to take my 328.
I had checked everything 3 weeks before, car was very nice, all history records, all was functionning perfectly.
After signature on the contract, we started our 900 km trip back home.
A lot of traffic jam on those German motorway (may be 150 km at 20 km/h average).

When night started to arrive, I tried to use my lights, and, bad surprise, the front lights were not functionning !
It was around 9pm, and still more than 4 hours to drive home.
We (my father and me) continued, and wanted to stop to find a hotel near motorway.
    But all were fully booked!
After around 30 minutes looking for a hotel in the dark, we decided to stop, and to try to sleep in the car...

We were disturbed in the night 2 times by the police. Is it so strange to see a Ferrari parked alone on a supermarket parking, with 2 people sleeping in it ??
At 6 am, sun was rising, and we wake up.

So, 328 is not so confortable for 2 adults to sleep in, which is not a big surprise ...
I always thought I would sleep in my Ferrari when I bought it, I never imagine I would really do.

    PS: Lights problem is solved.

"You spent $100,000 on a car!?"

    Yes

"We could have used that towards a bigger house"

You can sleep in a car, can't drive a house

"Very cute, you get to sleep in the car tonight"

    .................okay....

This has not happened since I am not married, but I am sure that exact scenariowill happen if I do ever get married.....

Yes, bringing mine home from Oregon I had the night shift as my girlfriend does not see well after dark..

So, after driving all night thru West Texas I gave her the wheel at San Antonio for the last four hours to Houston....

As I am 6' 3" the 308GTB is definately too small for comfort and I woke up cranky in a bad mood and criticized her driving....

It was lucky to be so close to home when we switched back and she cried the rest of the way..........LOL!

I gave her the Ferrari, and she was a little more cheerful!

    Slept in the Ferrari?????

    Absolutely!!!

On the first night it came home I was evicted from my bed by my wife and had to sleep in the Ferrari.

But it was more than worth it.

At 6 am in the morning after a few aches and pains I started her up and pumped some revs.

Now that really pissed her off but lots of fun!!!

I've never slept in my Ferrari but I did sleep under a pine tree in Freeway Park in Seattle one night, with 5k in cash in my pocket. Not a vacant hotel in the city that night including the YMCA, I checked.

    HAHAHA

    Thats too funny.

last year I was returning from the Ferrari factory to my place in Munich with a friend in my 355 GTS.

We made a stop for dinner and started down the road again. But night had arrived and guess what? No lights. The front lights were not functioning.

We had about 2 hours to go and thought that we might end up sleeping in a truck stop inside the 355...BUT...

as it turned out...The regular low beams went on the fritz and the high beams worked just right. Problem is that high beams seen from the other direction, even on the Autobahn is just a few ticks short of staring into a nuclear blast.

We drove for about 5 mins only to realise that driving with the high beams just wasnt going to work. people flashed and honked at us.

I pulled into the next truck stop and thought about how ugly the next 9 hours were going to be sleeping in a Ferrari when an idea hit me. I went into the gas station store and bought about a dozen of those white "country" stickers. The kind that go on the backs of cars in Europe. We were still in Austria so it was a bunch of "A"s. and stuck them over the headlight lenses until we though we might have enough.

Took off down the Autobahn, still got flashed by oncoming traffic, pulled into the next truck stop and stuck on some more..and did so until the other drivers wouldnt flash us.

Whole thing worked great! course I couldnt see too well ..and kept the speeds below 100. We also joked that if someone looked up in the distance, they might see the Austrian version of the Batman calling sign and see a giant letter "A" or 2 in the distant clouds.

Not Ferrari, but on our honeymoon trip 24 years ago my wife and I slept in our Porsche 914 in a Sears parking lot in Davenport, Iowa on the way to Grandma's cabin in Mn. It was two fold, we tried to drive straight thru but got tired, and did not really have the spare cash to blow on a hotel room!

Actually I can go 'one better' than sleeping in a 308GTB, we once went to Wurstfest in a Triumph Spitfire, and slept over night in THAT! LOL!

We woke up the next morning and for some strange reason had an awning stretched over the car. A motorhome had pulled in during the night and had rolled out the blue and white striped side shade! LOL!

Seeing us in that car must have made a sight, as I'm 6' 3" tall and my padner, the driver was 6' 8"!!!!!

I think if I had to choose, I'd take my Spit over my 308 to sleep in for the night. I actually find the 308 more cramped than the Triumph...

I have alway's said I will own a Ferrari even if it mean's sleeping in it, way to go bro! I was sleeping off a 'few too many' one night in a WalMart parking lot and the security guard told me he would lookout for me and my Ferrari, my '92 Toyota MR2 Turbo. I felt so special I had to start her up and give the throttle a few jab's, not the same music but I enough for him to come back. I told him I was just checking the battery! OOPP's LOL

Longtime Breadvan owner Monte Shalett told me that the spike of a stiletto heel was found jammed in the back of the breadvan, probably from the days when it was owned by wild playboy Mattt Ettinger, a fun guy I spoke to when researching the Breadvan. He did doughnuts on a concours fuield once and the judges just about lost their beards:)

As to the heel in the back of the car...well they might have slept too....

There was a chap caught in a blizzard a 348 challenge on the way down to cavallino Classic years ago in th Appalachians and he along with many others were stuck on the highway all night but he still got down to Palm Beach on time!
