Have you experienced creeping carpets? Are you currently experiencing flying goodies when you brake in an enthusiastic manner?

Okay, enough of the "roncomatic" advertisement :)

I finally did something about my creeping carpets before getting a throttle or foot stuck. I was also miffed that the back shelf is a great place to put stuff as long as your accelerating (not a bad thing to be doing ;-)

Anyway. For the carpets, I cut four 3 inch lengths of tie-down strap (red of course) and put three canvas eyelets on. I then cut a hole in each spot on each carpet (aligned with the front seat anchors). I cut three holes in the anchors as I also have some really nice aftermarket carpets with holes in slightly different spots.

For the parcel shelf, I got a cargo/grocery net from the local parts store (Canadian Tire). It was huge! 72 x 48 inches. I didn't want to permanently modify any part of the car so I slid the nubbins it comes with up under the rear liner panels. I then attached the upper corners to posts inside the seatbelt motor covers. The only way to get them in there without having a permanent gap under the cover or marks from a thin wire, was through the seatbelt slot. Not sure of that is a safety issue but there is no binding occurring.

Not tremendously professional, but ya gotta get real close to tell.

    Cheers,
    hagen

Great idea using a cargo net for the back shelf. Maybe I can find a smaller one. Thx for the idea.
